[NO QUESTIONS HERE] We do not condone scamming, this section is meant for people to read about scamming so they can prevent being scammed themselves.
Greetings everyone! I just wanted to add some things to this scam: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
So some cred go to [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] for the basic scam.
First I thought I should just reply with my additions, but my post became so big so I thought that I might as well give it a thread of its own. It's best if you click the link and read the topic to understand the basic scam, but I'll give you a quick summary:
1. Find a victim that is trading his account. Create two IM adresses and add him. Log into one of them.
2. Make him believe that you indeed have a certain character that he wants to trade to, and then commence the trade by asking for account name. He gives you his, and you give him a fake account name.
3. When it's time to swap password, just say that you just realized you'd prefer another race of the character or something like that and say deal off.
4. Log into the other IM and pretend to be another person with another, similar character for trade. When you begin the trade, this time first change password. Just give him a fake pass - you now have hiss acc / pass.
5. ???
6. Profit.
Ok, so that's the basic scam. However, it's a bit viable in a few points and I have some things to add:
First off, remember you can make your victim really believe that you have the certain character by picking a random character on armory and link him, and then use [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] to modify your PCT site to make it look like you have that char (you still need to have the correct race and class though, but it can be pretty much any level).
Anyway. This is where the important part comes!
Why only change account name and password? Then they'll just retrieve it! No, go all the way!
For example:
--- FIRST CHAT ---
You: Okay, let's first give eachothers SQ/A and then the account name? And then pw?
Victim: Okay, sure. My SQ/A is xxxxx.
You: Yeah my SQ/A is <FAKE SQ/A HERE>.
Victim: K, my account is xxxxxx.
You: Mine is <FAKE ACC HERE>... Oh wait, what race where you?
Victim: Dwarf.
You: Oh sh*t, I wanted a human sorry! :P
Victim: Ah ok np, cya.

The victim will probably not change his SQ/A because you haven't gotten enough info to use it yet... But this is where you log onto another IM and pretend to be someone else!

You: Ok, I got scammed recently so I prefer a specific way to go. First we change each-others e-mail on the accounts and we take screenshot... And you don't have to show the account yet either, so we can go step by step.
Victim: Sounds good.
*He changes his e-mail to yours and SS's and removes his acc name from the pic, you simply use Kaizou to edit the page so that it looks like his e-mail*
You: Dangit I just realized these pages can be photoshopped easily lol, I don't think I have the guts for account trades sorry...

From there, be quick! You need to go to password retrieval and use the information you've gotten before he changes back the e-mail to his own! Profit.
Addition: Of course you can toss in some more info here as well. In chat 1 you can ask for his full name as well, and in chat 2 you can ask for his CD-Key first. Just as long as you don't make him uncomfortable... And make sure that you do not ask for too much in chat 1; then maybe he'll change some of the info after the first chat! You have to always make him feel that he didn't give out enough info for him to need to change anything.
funny thing is i just tried this and it worked! the guy had 900g on his main and i mailed it to me, about 4min later i was disconnected, he did pass recovery...this is truly the best
