Free Name Change Scam

Method:

1) Delete the character that you want renamed.
2) Create a new character with the same name on the same server, or have a friend do this.
3) Open a ticket to blizzard saying something like "My brother deleted my character, can you please restore it?"

*When blizzard attempts to restore your character the name will be in use, you therefore are told to create a new name!

And you will have to wait 1 week for Blizzard to get your character restored, in some cases they will send you an e-mail telling you that you abused account sharing and therefore your account will be banned.. just to change your Name.. ?

For me it's not worth all the trouble, rather tell him your name has a historical meaning or is in use in China or something, copy a text and claim you found it at wikipedia.com :X .

This can work.. but needs to be smoothed up around the edges... first off... make sure you have your restorations still able to use on your account.. i think the limit is 4 then they say their done but good social skills may get you more.. to check just talk to a gm and say you want something restored.. if they say you can restore it but itll cost you a restore.. just say nvm.. ok now delete you character.. I would advise you have a friend/alt/scammed account to make another char on same server with old name so they dont get suspicious even if they look.. ok next talk to blizz.. (this is what i do when getting into account trouble) say u let your son/daughter play your account and they deleted your character.. because you can allow your children to play your account with your permission.. i use this excuse alot.. but alright.. they will look into it.. and if u stay on them steadily you could have your toon restored that day.. if not stay on them.. then when they do.. o what a suprise.. someone took your name.. so there u go, new name..

What i would say is:
i was showing my daughter/son the game, and while fooling around they found out how to delete a character, and deleted it.

your children are allowed to be on your account and play it. you could say they were playing without fear of being banned.

Before the paid name changes came in, for random names eg.

I would email blizzard saying that in australia bigboto is gay slander and that i have spoken to the user and they realise that this word was offencieve and wish to change thier user name.

took me two tickets of complaining but it got changed

Reporting your friends - to help them change thier name FTW (have not tested since paid name changes).

Just you need to not sound like a kid and that your mature and taking action for it

Yes, the excuse I gave was just an example. Having somebody complain that your name is vulgar or offensive also works.

Deleteing your char = Bad, Sometimes they will NOT restore your char. Sometimes BOE items are lost. Just dont do it.

I have tried this scam but i was a newb so i got a 3 hour ban...could have gotten permanent but thanks to my quick thinking.
I have done what you said in e-mail loong time ago but GM just restored the character with the same name and a random letter at the end of it...
The fact that in your next post you admit it was a bad example proves that you are a leecher and made a poor effort to change it.
About the offensive naming is not so easy....what do you do if you don't have an offensive name?
Onemore it's not about 10$....it's about being able to do it other ways...and i tried the scam and it did work for me before the namechange was implemented.

Lol , no idea to do this, when you delete your character and make the same name, open a ticket , they will restore you character BUT! You character is named like " Rumble" and u deleted him/her then u make one more character named that , They will pick a name like " Rummble , or Rumblee" , Easy done.

You could get banned for sharing ur account with other people and sometimes items are lost when you restore and i've heard that the just change your name a little.
