My version of the Backspace Scam. -
10-30-2007
After reading Flying Piggy's [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], I tried it out just like in the examples and like in the video. First 10 times, didn't work. You need to get your timing PERFECT. After about ten people, I finally got it to work. I got a nice blue 19 twink item. After I was done stealing the item, I sent my gold back to my main character; I mailed the item, and then logged off. After logging off I deleted the character.
I continued this about 3 more times, got few more epics. Then my friend logged on and i told him about it. We made up a plan. To scam the most items as fast as you can, you should follow these steps:
1. Have a partner that you highly trust. Guild mates are trusty, but most of the time, not trusty enough.
2. Have that partner have 1000 gold in their inventory, and have them stand in SW by the bank.
3. Make a Human any class. I read somewhere (not trying to steal your work, sorry) that people trust characters with dark hair the most. You make a human because it is faster to get to the capital. Also, make sure your name is hard to remember.
4. Once you get your character to SW, meet up with your partner. Have your partner find a hiding spot (like in the inn's top floor) so that you can run to them with the goodies.
5. Now you and your partner should scan the chat for any Items of interest, (Epics).
6. Once you have found your item, and the sucker that owns it (for now), Whisper him that you want to buy the item for ### amount of gold. Then have your partner give you the money you need, then tell them to go hide.
7. Now tell that sucker to come to the SW Bank. Also I would say something like "hurry up i gtg to bed soon" (I had also read this from a different thread). This should make them faster and make them not pay as much attention.
Before you continue, you should have read [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] You need to DL the Backspace scam program to do this.
8. When they get to the Bank trade with them and get ready to press f5. I always count about 2 seconds after they put the object in the trade before I press f5. If it messes up or your timing sucks, try again. You can end the trade and restart or just put the money back in.
9. If you mess up and it is obvious, blame it on lag, a bug, or the fact that you are a newb. lol Another good excuse for why you ended the trade is that you don't have bag space.
10. Once you have successfully scammed your sucker, run to your partners hiding spot, open a trade window and trade them the gold and the items.
11. You should then log off and Delete this character.
12 There you have it, you just got something for nothing (material wise).
Notes: The reason I used a partner, is so that the item would not be as traceable, and that so you don’t have to keep mailing your items around. Using a partner helps you not have to log on and off as much, and it lets you be able to have watch on the chat at all times.
Use at your own RISK!
Scamming is fun and should be enjoyed but, Not too much ...lol

After reading this I contacted my partner in crime, he said all of our items had been taken. /sigh
I figured out that they can track you down even if you delete your character, so it might be pointless. A way to avoid being caught is to tell the sucker the only way to get the item back is if they log off and back on, then you will give it back. This would make their chat records delete your name.
