I don't know if this has been posted before and I'm too tired to care to be honest, if it has I'm sure you can all flame me and then the thread can be deleted and we can all be happy again... Some of you might see this as obvious but I'm sure many will not.

Anyway, moving on.

This scam involves several things -

A Level 70 Account that you are happy to not play for a while.
(You will need all the details)

Patience (A lot of it) < You do not need this if RL money is all you are after.

A Paypal account.

MSN or AIM or just E-mail.

First things first -

1) Sell your account. Now I'm not going to insult you intelligence by telling you all the sites you can do this on and how to use them basically: -
i) You can either do it on eBay. (Make a new eBay account)
ii) Or just go to an account trading site (Google it). Give them your contact details etc.
Make it all legit, sell your account, give them everything apart from Auth key, make them believe it's for real.


WARNING - DO NOT GIVE THE PERSON YOUR AUTHENTICATION KEY, THIS WILL RUIN THE SCAM, GIVE THEM A FAKE ONE OR SAY YOU LOST IT.

*Skip step 2 if you only want RL money*
Second step is always the hardest and longest....

2) Wait........
After you have sold your account you have to wait. For a long time. This will give the person who bought it time to get your character geared, maybe get some nice epics and stuff. Pour countless hours into it grinding gold and getting your tradeskills up.

I waited THREE MONTHS.
Before: - Full Outland Blues, 350 Tailoring, 350 Enchanting
After: - 11 Epics, mostly Kara, 4 heroic keys, Kara attuned, 2000g, 375 tailoring 375 enchanting, Exalted with The Sha'tar and Lower City and whatever TK rep is, Revered with Violet Eye.

Note: Keep tabs on your characters armory, make sure they're getting you the gear. I've noticed that most people who spend money on accounts play them all the time to get the most out it, they spend their money on it because they're serious about the game. If they do not get anything within a month or so, reclaim the account (At least you got your money)

Step 3 can take up to 2 weeks...

3) Go to webform on the WoW site - For EU you go on the main page ([Only registered and activated users can see links. ]) Go to support, click Account Compromised which is shown when you highligh game security, scroll to the bottom and you will find "Webform". Or alternatively I could tell you the link - [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Press on Account compromised/hacked on the drop down list, and bobs your uncle.

For US the webform is - [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] (Thanks to Aggrovate for finding it.)

Put all the details of the account to yours, change the e-mail back to yours etc - Think of an excuse (I usually say something like "I accidentally changed the e-mail address" or something to that effect) put that in the description

Then you wait... (Yes even more waiting sorry) 1st time it took 2 weeks, 2nd a week. Expect anything in that range. But you will eventually receive an e-mail with your password in it, or they may ask for a picture of your ID to prove you own the account (Happened to me once, I sent the photo they gave me account back after another week.

Voila! You netted yourself a few (Hundred) dollars/pounds/euros and maybe got some nice new gear for your char. Success.

Also some ideas - If the person has transferred your character then wait until transfer is up and when you get the character back do some scamming on it (At your own risk) Then transfer it to the original realm or a realm of your choice. I usually do the Enchant Weapon - Mongoose scam. Been posted before but I'll describe it to those of you who haven't seen it.

Enchant Weapon - Mongoose scam: Preferably have a character with 375 Enchanting not neccessary but some people may check your armory for professions and you'd get foiled then.

Step 1: Advertise in trade that you are selling Enchant Weapon - Mongoose free if they bring mats, or 10g or so. (I use the addon Mobmap to link the enchant, it's in the professions tab of it)

Step 2: Get the person you trade you the mats.

Step 3: Laugh at them and sell the mats for ~400-500g.

Step 4: Repeat until the entire server has you on ignore and no one trusts you.

DO GOLD SCAMS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

You can be banned for the Mongoose scam yes even on EU servers despite popular belief, my old account got banned for Crusader scam and I'm EU (Did do it 30 times in 1 night though haha)

Also some ideas for you to do whilst you are waiting for the person to get your account uber:

1) Get a life maybe, go out, socialise.

2) If you can't live without WoW start a new account and get another character up (I got a Rogue to 60 whilst waiting)

3) Read lots of MMowned, maybe practice some Auto-it scripting or something.

I'm sure you can think of many more.

Also a small note on this scam -

THIS IS CONSIDER FRAUD IN MANY COUNTRIES AND YOU MAY BE PROSECUTED FOR IT SO DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. YOU CAN BE BANNED FOR ACCOUNT TRADING.
Paypal takes the side of the seller when it comes to virtual items btw.

I just had to put that, doubt you will but it is technically theft, although the laws on the trading of virtual items are not very clear.

Quick summary of scam in case you didn't understand it:-
Sell YOUR account but don't give auth key, wait for the buyer to get your character good gear that you are happy with, reclaim your character and enjoy your free gold gear and moneys. I could've just put that but I wanted to explain it in depth, sorry if this confused some of you.

Can you explain what you mean? I don't understand the post. Also note that I put do not give the auth key, so you have the auth key and therefore you have the upper hand. In this scam you are the original owner of the account not the other person, if that's what you mean.

yeah i did this once, I had a scrub 60 mage when TBC came out so i sold him for $100, 3 months later i retrieve the account and hes 70 with some epics =D

I cannot find the US Webform either, I don't think they have one. You can just E-mail [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] with all your account details, auth key etc and description of what has happened to your account (Just make something up) They should restore your account just like the EU one does.

hmm i told them about how my comp was hacked and stuff, and they sent me a email saying that they cannot discuss account information to a email thats not registered to the account.. i was like. YEA, cause my email was hacked. so dumb. yes someone please find the US web form, i want to talk to someone with a higher IQ than me.
