So this may be considered "Common Sense" or "Situational" But I made a profit out of this and Im sure someone else can.
Though my experience was specific, i'm sure it can be done in many situations.
Ill tell you my story then Ill post a general method that can apply to all. Warning! This scam requires you to turn on other botters! Possibly bretheren of this site, so turn away if you are not interested. My Epic Tale of Blackmail  So I have been fish-botting for as long as I can remember, fish has been my major cash cow, I often farm Glacial Salmon and sell it on the ah for 80g a stack. (70g on a bad night)
Well recently I have been logging on and have been seeing no successful sales.
This is odd for me because I did really roll in the dough with these dman fish.
So I check the ah and see if I am being undercutted, I was.
The guy that was undercutting me was doing it by A LOT but he only had a few stacks up.. so I bought them out and re-posted them.
Again... NO SALES....
I checked the AH again, he had even more up. Bought them out, re-listed.
AGAIN... and way way more this time.
I decided to talk to this guy, it pissed me off.
No response, I got this crazy Idea.... maybe he was botting!
I did a /who. He was in Grizzly Hills (This is where they are farmed... that bastard.)
So I decide to hunt for him high and low using a /target macro... after about an hour I found him, all lonely out on a remote island, where no one (lol) would find him.  Took screenshots, got his guild leader's info etc..
when to sleep and waited for him the next morning.
Told him that I had a ticket up about him botting, told him I had his guildy info and many screenshots and if he didn't give in to my demands, he could say goddbye to his account.
In short he paid up, I took 2kg and all his Glacial salmon from him, and he was to not trade / sell in Glacial salmon any more.
I held up my deal and did not report him. He bugged me allot, was very angry so I set him up on ignore and vuala! Practical Use Step 1:
Use the auctionhouse, find anyone that buys or sells in large bulks. (Fish work the best Id asume, but anything else could work too, maybe they are botting for kills etc)
Step 2: do a /who, if he is in the area where the mobs / fish are (That he is selling) they you prolly got him.
Step 3: Find him, you have to confirm that he is indeed botting, use a /target macro to help you. (Check the exact areas where the fish are or mobs spawn.)
Step 4: Get evidence and open a ticket, what makes the blackmailing easier is if the ticket has been opened for a long time, it scares them (It seems)
Step 5: Wait for the person to not be botting and set up your blackmail.
Step 6: Profit! (also possibly go to hell, but we will see)   |
