I normally do not scam; I don't have the bawls to do it.
But a thought came to mind.. Christmas is around the corner; and i am sure some kids whose minds haven't been corrupted will be receiving World of Warcraft for Christmas.
This is probably a pretty low rate of success; but you never know when you'll get lucky.
With this scam you will be getting low level accounts; If you have patience once you get the account info you can just wait until the kid levels it to a decent level to change the information.
Or if you just need an account to scam with, or you need an account to transfer gold around. Or to just turn around and give it away on MMowned.. There are endless possibilities.
Ok to the scam; Its pretty mindless.. Level a character above the starting zone. I would suggest 20-30's.. When the little kiddies get their Warcraft account on Christmas day the newbie zones will be flooded!
Go to the newbie zone closest or fullest.
Now; There are two ways you can go about this.
1. Offer in general chat free power leveling or Free gold.
2. Whisper each person asking if they would like free power leveling or gold.
If they want free gold tell them you need their account info to get the gold; you can come up with some B.S story about how it is an exploit you found, and that you can't do it on your own account anymore. And if he asks for you to tell him the exploit, explain that you don't want your little secret out.
If the kiddie wants power leveling, ask him for his information so you can do it. If he is hesitant tell him you can stay up all night and you don't have a bedtime. You can also offer to "trade account info" so he has some security about giving you his account information. Just make a trial account and give him that information. Make realistic promises like "I can have you close to 20 by tomorrow! Seriously, I'm so l33t at leveling!"
I find it better to whisper each person instead of the general chat. If you announce nonsense like that you are bound to have people say "Thats a scam, don't do it!" Whereas a newbie that you whisper is less likely to say in general chat that you tried to scam him through whispers.
If someone tells you "Im reporting you for trying to scam me!" Don't fret, Its pretty low chance of actually getting banned because you havn't actually taken their account.. I think.. You can just explain to the GM that the kiddie didn't understand what you were offering or some crap like that..

Ya your most likely only able to scam the barely tweens or even the single digit kiddies.
Either way; It can be worth a try. Like I said in the first post; If your lucky to find someone on the brinks of having any intelligence don't take the account right away, let them level the character up and then take the account.
Mmowned has deemed themselves safe; There was a response!
