(There might be some risk involved if you've used your 3 character restores)
NOTE: This uses one of your 3 character restores, after that a GM is not obliged to restore your character (they most likely will though) therefore, you should probably just save this method for your main or something.
Ok. So what you do is, create some level 1 character with whatever name, you don't even have to log on. Then, delete the character you want to rename. Now, create a character of the same name, same class, same race and kill a few mobs so your not level 1.
NOTE: MUCH Higher success rate if you have a friend on the server who creates a character with the name of your main as then they will not tamper with their account as there have been reports of GM's changing the name of the level 2 alt and not the character you want.
Now, put in a GM report and say something along the lines of: "I was creating a new character and I realized i didn't like how he looked so I went to delete him and I accidentally deleted my main. His name is: X
Race: x
Class: x
Level: x
This happened today just a few minutes ago.
At this point, I sign off but I'm sure you could stay on and talk to the GM (I've never tried). Ok so, sign off and wait a few hours. At this point your character should have been restored, however most of the time it doesn't show up, so try and make a level 1 char and then delete it, as creating a level 1 character refreshes the character panel. Your character HAS been restored you just can't see it.
At this point, the character should have been restored, and because you have a character with the same name as a level 2-3, the GM will have not deleted it as they are not allowed to. Now you should see your main with some ambiguous letter added at the end like a 'z.' Now when you try to log on you will be prompted to select a new name for your character. Viola!
Don't overuse this method as I have to use it whenever they unlock the new transfer servers :]

Reputation: 3 | | | yes he will. And read the bolded part, if you don't see a your character on the character selection screen just make some level 1 and it will refresh and then you'll see your main restored. |

EDIT: Look below, I posted a better method where your not the account with the alt so they won't do that.

I tried this twice and its worked both times, maybe I just got dumb GM's. An improvement to this method would be to PM / AIM your friend and tell HIM to create a character with that name. Then just make up any name and do a GM report and then they'll have to give you the rename because they can't tamper with someone else's account.
EDIT: and it asked me to rename my chars when I tried to log them in |

And check like a few posts up I said that a new method would be to have your FRIEND create the character with the similar name as they won't tamper with their account. |
