WoW ScamsWorld of Warcraft Whitehat Scamming Methods ONLY.
[NO QUESTIONS HERE] We do not condone scamming, this section is meant for people to read about scamming so they can prevent being scammed themselves.
Alright, this scam is sort of common sense, and may have been posted, but my searching has been in vain...so here we go.
Alot of people who play WoW also have experience in other MMO's, either from playing them previously, hearing a friend talk about them, etc. This can be used to your advantage in scamming. Alot of people advertise wanting to trade a WoW account for an account in another MMO on MarkeeDragon and other sites. Often, these people are first time players of these games, or atleast havent played them in along time. This means that you can use patch time to exploit their accounts. Since this may not have been clear, I shall post a step-by-step walk through of a typical scam.
1. Search trade forums on a MMO other than WoW, for this tutorial we shall be using FFXI ( has long patch times, and characters are often valued higher than even a decked WoW account due to long levelling time ).
2. Open a new tab and search for someone selling their FFXI account, and copy paste character attributes from their ad onto notepad. We will use this information to make our own "character" that we shall be selling.
3. Post a thread telling people that you are wanting to get out of FFXI and start playing WoW because your friends are now playing WoW or whatever. DONT post any negative reasons why you are leaving, we want people to think that its a great game (much better than WoW of course!!!...)
4. Start contacting people who are interested in trading, or just wait for people to contact you.
5. Once you have found someone to trade with, you need to convince them to give you most of their information, if not all, first. This can be done by saying that you read that WoW accounts are the easiest to retrieve, etc.
6. You "complete" the trade as smoothly as possible, and dont log off or anything. Just act normal, make them think everything is good, everyone is happy.
7. Remember how long it takes to install, and then patch a MMO that you havent played in a long time? Well you have all that time ( sometimes over a day ) to use their account however you please, transfer the characters, whatever.
This can be done on other MMO's as well, of course. I am not responsible for what people may or may not do with this information, it is purely for educational purposes only, to prevent people from falling victim to such a scam.

Well, it's interesting. Simply, if the person does not know much about the account management of a certain MMO, they can easily fall victim to scams. For example, not knowing how important the email on an account is. I bet someone coming from Runescape to WoW might think that whoever has the username and password of a WoW account keeps it forever.
Smart idea.

Thanks, glad you like the guide. Also, another tip for this scam is to read guides online about the game you say you're trading, so that you can throw around some of the right lingo. Makes you look a bit more legit.
Well +rep for this one cause... they said to me... if you give us ( [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]) a Great Idea... then we will give a reward as 500 gold to your character in-game .
