Reputation: 6 | | | [Scam] BetaKey "SafeTrade" and Beta Opt-in Phishing Combined Scam
Hello, I've been leaching for a while and this is my first try to contribute with something. This is a scam that combines different scamming methods, many of you will probably go: OMGWTF REPOOOST!!! GTFO!, but I think this might be useful for some people. This scam requires:- A phishing site hosting: WoTLK Opt-Beta Phisher by Tanaxia
- Preferably a scammed account with a level 70 character (not needed though)
This is a combination of the SafeTrade scam (mostly Grand Theft Auto's) and Tanaxias phisher. With this scam you will get gold and maybe even an account (if the victim is fooled by the phisher). 1. Host the Phish website at *********** --------(Optional)--------
2. Buy a .com domain from any website that looks similar to worldofwarcraft.com or wow-europe.com (depending on if you're US or EU). For example: worldofwarcroft.com.
3. Create a subdomain for your domain and name it: betasignup, also make it frame forward to your phishing site. Now your phishing site URL will be: betasignup.worldofwarcroft.com, if you do this your chance of fooling your victim increases alot. 4. Go to any major city on the server you wish to scam on and say:

| 3. You will probably get some flame whispers but some people will ask: What is SafeTrade? Then you answer:

/r It's Blizzard's insured method of selling Beta Keys for in-game gold, it's not against the policy since it counts as an in-game item now, even if it isn't.
| 4. Some people will go: OMG SCAMMER! Just ignore them or tell them they will actually get an email from Blizzard, probably some dumbass will actually believe you and then you ask for their email.
5. Now you send this email (I've modified Grand Theft Auto's email):
Subject: SafeTrade Activated!
From: SafeTrade@blizzard.com

This email is to inform you that Blizzard's brand new collaborated SafeTrade system has been activated and that the key possessed by <your character name> has been successfully entered and verified for the item: "War of the Lich King Beta Key." <their character> will receive a code beginning with the characters "SIEK23" after trading the previously agreed amount of 3000 gold to <your character>.
SafeTrade's purpose is to ensure that the seller and the buyer have a smooth, insured transaction. As many tickets have been opened in the past pertaining to purchasing fake, unworking beta keys, we have put forth efforts to increase the legitimacy of these ingame sales.
If you have any problems receiving your item, please reply to this email with your unique SafeTrade transaction ID number: 5890301-93849-684830, and you will receive a message from one of our Game Masters promptly. As tickets can take hours to receive a response, this alternative method allows us to assist you immediately and to prevent any scamming or foul play.

| 6. Tell them to trade you the gold and say that they will receive the Key in an email from Blizzard.
7. Now they will maybe accept and trade you the gold, this is where the other part starts. Send them the Beta Opt-in email:

Please be prepared to enter the current retail World of Warcraft account name and password you use, and the appropriate beta code listed below to authenticate your eligibility to connect to the Wrath of the Lich King test realms. To participate in the beta tests, you must have a valid retail World of Warcraft account active and in good standing as of July 15, 2008.

Below is a beta code that will allow you to upgrade a World of Warcraft account to be eligible for the Wrath of the Lich King beta test. Each beta code can be used only once to upgrade an active retail World of Warcraft account.

| 8. Tell them that you have confirmed the SafeTrade and that they will receive the Beta Key soon.
9. Now, hope for them to get fooled by your phisher, eventually you will get 3000g and a WoW Account, and probably a pretty good one if they had enough gold to buy your fake Beta Key.

Other than that. Thanks for the rep and nice comments! I guess this is almost a repost, I actually thought of it myself though. Maybe some people hadn't heard about it. Well, I will try to contribute in other ways then. |
