If you read Blizzard's rules, transfers from account to account must have the same name and suscriber. I believe it is in Part 2 of my guide. This is to prevent people from trading single characters to different people.

Blizzard realized that sometimes people wanted to use both of their characters at the same time, and decided to profit off of that need. This way, someone's wife, husband, kid, etc. can be playing a high level character along with thier significant other. Though sharing an account with someone is against ToS, making a new account and sending a character isn't. Oh, and its NOT against ToS to share an account with a minor in your care..not like anyone cares to Blizz rules anyway lol.

hey magmarfer, very well written guide. Certainly distinguishable among much of the trash posts that seem to pop up on much of these forums. I was wondering if you could elaborate more on pre-paid credit cards etc. Do you have to have the amount you want to buy on there? i.e. could you have like 10 bucks on the card and buy 700$ worth of gold? Do you have any experiences with good CC that will stop payment for you without hassle or questions asked? Thanks!

What exactly do you tell your CC company to get your money back?

Call our credit card company, and dispute the payment. An investigation will be initiated. This means that the transefered funds will be frozen, and after the investigation it will be returned to you. If you are using a prepaid card, it may take longer. This has always worked for me.

what should i tell the CC company, don't they get suspicious? also is there a time limit on disputing payments? (ie: buy power leveling 1-70 today, dispute payment 4 weeks later, will it still work?)

Yeah I'm wanting me a 70 with epic mount etc...but that doesn't get done in a day lol. How long do you have to dispute a payment normally?

Credit card companies all have different rules. Read your respective pamphlets. I bet all of your answers are there.

Ok, put it this way, i am not old enough to get a credit card (parents wont let me) and there is no way my parents will give up theirs. I dont know abou t these cards. Is there any way i can buy a small card over ebay or something and use that? or do i have to buy an appropriate card. Please reply.

Re: Scamming Websites - 05-03-2007

Since you asked for my opinion, here goes:

If you are a minor, refrain from participating in potentially risky behavior. Your parents will pay if you mess anything up, not you. You can never understand the potential risks involved if it is not your status that can be compromised. I know I am flaming, but this is just my opinion.

Not old enough to get a credit card? Wait until you can get one.

Re: Scamming Websites - 05-05-2007

I have been playing WoW for less than 1yr. While I do not have interest in scamming, I do like to read these things. I am curios though, see questions below:

1. Would Blizzard not be able to check your IP address information to see that the scam account and real account are coming fromt the same location?

2. Is Blizzard not able to check your prior transactions or activities on your character, such as mail transactions or gold transfers (assuming that as you stated, the gold websites GOT THE ASSISTANCE of Blizzard)?

3. Also, what if the company doesnt refund your money and you cancel your payment stating fraudulent charges or whatever? Would make doing this more than once if that happened rather difficult no?

I only ask these questions because I am interested in how these things work. Consider it a learning lesson. Regardless, scamming I suppose is all about risk anyways. However, good thoughts and way to think outside the box.

Cheers

Re: Scamming Websites - 05-05-2007

Be careful about what you do with third party gold/plevel sites. You piss them off and they can report your activities to Blizzard and you'll get perma-banned; I've seen it happen. A little corrupt of them, yes, but what can you expect when you put your account in their hands? Granted you do this on a sacrificial account, but still. Watch yourselves.
Secondly, you pay for an account to try to scam a website....so you pay $15 for a very, very unlikely chance that this will work. So you complain, who are you? You're one person. It'd be better imho to just take that $15 and actually buy the gold. A lot more reliable. Just a thought.

Your day will come.
