I am german, sorry for lack of English, I will try my best to describe this scam as precisely as I can.
So the other day I was on the search for an enchanter who could make Firy Weapon on my 1 hand sword.
After a long search someone whispered me, claiming he could do the enchant.
He was lvl 30 and looked really trustworthy, so I said ok.
When he arrived he told me that he needed one elemt of fire [the materials] (sorry, donīt know if that is the real english name of the item, german ist "Element des Feuers")
He told me I should buy the Item and he would enchant me the weapon for 20g. (old prive was 30g, so I said ok)
So I bought the Item and went to this guy to give him the Item.
I put the Item in his "exchange window" and he told me to give him the cash at the same time.
I realy watch for possible scams all the time, but this one cought me. I put the cash in the "exchange Window", too.
He recieved the cash and the mats and then logged off.
I was left with nothing but empty hands and a loose of a whooping 20g.
--------------------
So, I bet this is nothing new to you, but the best part about this scam is just to come.
I told a GM about my situation and he responesed to me that it is not against the in game rules when you steal Items.
If you want proof I have screenshots of the whole discusion between me and the GM.
Of course this screens are in german, but I think that some one here can understand german.
I hope this helps, so lets all make an enchanter, or prevent to be one, and asks for mats before enchanting.
When you have the mats just sell them at the AH for cash, but donīt do this with your main because you will loose reputation really quickly.
Also I found out that this scam works best with low level enchants, like skill between 150 - 250.

Yeah, i thought so.
But you got the point, its not being bannable AND the info came from a GM.
The scam itself could be as old as wow, but I never found a post saying that itīs safe.

Even better, I looked him up on the arsenal and told his guildmaster that he is a scammer.
Got a whopping 20g as an excuse AND everything else back.
I think this tread can be locked then, to bad that you on US Servers will get banned for this scamm.
Works great on EU servers.

Actually , this is bannable on EU servers . Any scam is bannable but it looks like you just spoke to a GM who just simply didn't do his job right , the rules for EU are the same as the US rules for obvious reasons . I guess you were unlucky to talk to such a bad GM Kadji and i suggest that you should report that scammer again but on another day so that you get a different GM to sort this all out with , then i bet the answer will be different and chances are that the other GM will take action .
Many GMs don't do their jobs right and/or abuse their powers but some GMs actually follow the rules like they should .
PS : I edited the thread title since it was misleading some members .
I come to MMOwned on weekends (not all weekends).
