Reputation: 350 | | | [Guide] Social Engineering To Get What You Want Internet fraud is a form of white-collar crime whose growth may be as rapid and diverse as the growth of the Internet itself.
Social engineering plays a big role in this. History: "Social engineering" can be defined generally as the process by which a hacker deceives others into disclosing valuable data that will benefit the hacker in some way. Although hackers originally used "social engineering" to obtain codes or e-mail passwords for access to long-distance telephone lines or computers, more recent reports indicate that "social engineering" attacks can now be, and are being, used to acquire credit card numbers and other financial data. In this case, anyone can use it for World of Warcraft.
Here are a few tips that anyone might use for social engineering: 1) Alternate Routes to Persuade
First, one can use logical or systematic arguments to gain the favor of the victim. For example in a situation where one would want to pull a gold scam by "selling" a WoW TCG card in order to get the person to pay first:
You: Im selling the 25-key card for Turtle Mount! 500g! Only have one to sell
Victim whispers: I will buy if you give it to me first
You: Sorry, I've got another offer, and besides I can't risk giving this card away and you running off without paying me.
You have just used a logical approach. Logically, you have one card, and many buyers. If the buyer falls for this, he will probably be desperate and want to get his hands on the card since there is only one available. 2) Beliefs and Attitudes
Psychology experimentation has shown that people who tend not to put suspicion on persuasive messages closely, have used their beliefs to cloud their judgement.
People always put their beliefs first! Play onto any ethnic/racial/team sports that you can and use that against the victim! Just talk to them! 3) Persuasion Techniques
-Authority- EX: Pretend you are a GM or from Blizzard
-Scarcity- EX: There is only one of the game card you want to sell
-Liking and similarity- EX: Befriend the victim, chit chat about his likes and dislikes and pretend to like what he likes! Use Wikipedia or Google to find info about what they like and use it against them!
-Reciprocate- EX: Do a "favor" for them but ask them to do a favor for you first! Maybe a little "gold" loaning favor? :-)
-Commitment/Consistency: I see a lot of Social Engineers (Hackers) fail at this. Keep on a victim, build trust, use the techniques mentioned above to get what you need.
Follow this 1-2-3 method and you will have what you need in World of Warcraft- Accounts, gold, cash, and more!
Disclaimer: I do NOT endorse the use of these methods for anything illegal. Remember, always follow the law and use anything written wisely and with good judgement. I am not responsible for anything you do.
