Different DnD approach :D

Firstly this is my first post so go easy I've been searching around these forums and came across the DnD scam which after numerous attempts didn't work for me. That's not to say there was anything wrong with the scam however.

Anyway here is my own changed DnD Scam. I thought of this on my own, but if someone somewhere already did this, well kudos to them and not me

The main problem I found with the DnD Scam was that it required clever conversational skills to persuade the victim to attempt to enter in whatever you wanted him to.

Here is the method I used:

1) I created a new character which I named "Blìzzard". That's right it had an accented 'i', so it was allowed . This character was a human, simply because I could run to Goldshire in under a minute

2) I then sent a small amount of gold to this char from another. It doesn't have to be loads..1g will do fine.

3) Find a victim..This can be tricky..I don't tend to go for the higher levels. Around lvl 10-30 is ideal.

4) Send them this mail:

To: (Victim Name)

Subject: WoW Patch X.X.X - Player Ranking System

Body Text: Welcome (Victim Name)

Here you can make up some crap about the new Player Ranking System in the new WoW Patch. In order to access this new feature you must login to the system blah blah. Enter in the following code to logon

/Timetest
/DnD <AccountName> <Password>
/Player Ranking

5) Make sure to add the victim as a friend

6) Run to a place where you can spy on your victim, make sure you can see him get to the mailbox. I always have fun here I dunno why

7) When he gets to the mailbox, one of three things will happen!

Number 1) He will walk away from the mailbox, and continue doing whatever it is he was doing.
Number 2) He will go DnD, at which point you can send a whisp saying whatever (I normally just put a dot here). The details will then come up as his Do Not Disturb Message.
Number 3) He will go DnD at which point you send a whisp and what happens?!? His DnD message will say something like "Haha noob". Yes this has happened to be a few times, its ok just move on


A few things to note:

Having a name like "Blìzzard" attracts some attention, and people tend to take notice of you. Don't send mail to people to people who walk up to you and go "ZOMG BLIZZARD IS HERE". Chances are they wont fall for the scam

I've been using this scam for a day so I cant say if it'll get you banned. But chances are....It will probably get you banned if ur caught. If your worried because someone goes "OMFG H4X0R ALERT", just log off, delete, create a new char called "Blìzzard", delete, blah blah blah.

The only advantage I see of this over the original DnD idea, is that people feel more safe not only because they aren't being watched and pressured by someone to type something in, but because the fools believe they are dealing with Blizzard. ALL HAIL BLIZZARD!

Disclaimer:

Like most scams this does require some idiocy on the victims part. Its not 100%, its much much less than that, but a noob is born everyday, and if you happen to meet him, by gum this scam is a good bet

eh alright I guess. I usually tell them to do this:

/timetest
/dnd Account name Password
After 10 seconds do
/dnd Player Rating

I only do the last dnd thing cause first time I did it the guy told others to do it and he had them to DnD and he found out he got scammed and changed his info instantly. If they get rid of first DnD others won't be able to get it also.

lol why would you scam lvl 30's the whole point of the /dnd scam when biospecies made it was to make large amounts of gold then sell it. a lvl 30 has about a max of 200 gold worth of items and gear. which doesnt make up for the possibility of getting the account that u sent him the mail from and the account that u sent the gold to banned

Pluss, sending mail to someone takes about an hour to arrive.

I spose the only reason why I'd recommend going after lower levels is that higher levels are more experienced and much more likely to realise a scam when one hits em.

I personally would much rather get a couple of lower lvl victims because its much safer for you (In terms of being caught by other players for scamming). I realise that scamming a lvl 60+ may open up the possibilities of more money, more epic gear blah blah, but it's so much harder to do.

And to stealthblade, all the mail i've sent arrives immediately. I've watched people run to their mailbox almost immediately after i've sent the item, then gone DnD.

and to sKaM: That method of including /DnD in the /Player Rating part, means you're going to need good timing to get the details. You gotta be quick. If they just type in /DnD Player Rating almost immediately after logging in you might miss it. And then again it doesn't really matter if other people see the DnD message beacuse: It will take them a while to figure out what's going on in the DnD message. "Is that his account login and password...hmmm...hmmm..*waits a while...hmmm". At which point hopefully you've gone and changed the password already anyway
