Reputation: 107 | | [New] In-Game Account Scam - Screenshots In-Game Account Scam Only for MMOwned
I have thought of this scam and have tried to improve it as much as possible. I have never seen anything this detailed or close to this method on these forums or anywhere else. Basic Overlay: We will be both acting as someone who was told the victim was giving away gold, and as a GM verifying the information on the account. The trick to this is to time your chats to where it looks legit. Read on. What is needed: *WoW Account (Preferably Scammed)
*Trial WoW Account
*Improvising Skills
*Multi-tasking Abilities
*Luck that the person has not changed chat box The Steps: Step One: Preparation On the trial account, make a character named Verify or Verification. This will be the character the victim whispers the information to.
Also, make a character named ****bank. Logon to both characters and be sure to keep "Verification" afk-free. Step Two: Finding a Victim This is easier if you would like to scam someone you know or have on your friends list. If you don't want to scam those people, do a /who 47-54 warrior (or another class). Now, keep refreshing the who list, until you see that the player count has increase. Find the player that has logged in (requires memory) and get ready to whisper him. The beuaty in this is that you can choose the character which you scam, although people in tier 6 fall for it less. I mostly aim for victims between 30 and 60. Step Two and a Half: Acting as a GM Many people know this, but once you type something in the text box you can act as another player in whatever chat you want. First, type whatever your real character would say and then space until the blinking cursor is at the very end of the rectangle. Now, type <GM> [Cosmeticus]: or [****] says: and then whatever you would like to make the person appear to say. Understanding how to do this is vital to the scam. Step Three: The Lure Now, we take our ****bank character on our legit account and whisper the victim something along the lines of "hey, what happened." Now, you put in your chat box, "you were just about to send me gold?" Don't hit enter yet. Using the chat exploit, press space until at the end of the rectangle. Now, you act as a GM telling the victim that they have changed their I.P. location in a short amount of time and need to verify a few things. I find this one works well:
Now the next one needs to be sent relatively quick, as the victim will catch on quickly unless you warn them that a Blizzard employee will never ask for your password. I usually use "and then you got dcd" from ****bank and then "NOTE: Blizzard employees will NEVER ask for your password." from the GM. Heres the chat: Step Four: Email Here is where we ask for the registered email on the account. The person is probably so scrambled by the GM tells that he has not repsonded to your bank character. Sometimes, the person won't even realize hes been replying to ****bank the whole time. If this happens, then do not use a "Verification Manager". Many times, they won't have replied yet. If this is the case, I use "u there?" and as a GM say, "First, what is the registered email on your account? Please send all verifications to "Verification"." Because of the tells coming at the same time, the victim might be a bit suspicious. After asking for the email I like to use "I could really use that 220g"(Or whatever amount you choose.
After recieving the email, send a " Ok, thank you. It will take me a few moments to verify this.". After you say this, the person might start talking to the ****bank char. You will have to multi-task and talk to him at the same time. Step Five: Email Password Now, we go to wherever the email acocunt is hosted. You can click on "forgot password" to get to a screen where it could just ask you one question, or many. These are what are needed to find ingame. So, just go ahead and ask after you find the questions. In this example, the password requires a zip code and birth date.
Now, I have access to his email account. Step Six: Account Name Now, you can travel to worldofwarcraft.com. Click on "password retreival" and then on that screen "I forgot my account". It will ask you to enter an email address, you use theirs. Go and check their email now and find out the account names they have. If there is more than one, you will have to verify which account they are currently using in-game. Step Six: Secret Question Now, at worldofwarcraft .com. We can click on "retreive password" once more and enter the account name. The next screen will ask you the email and secret question on the account. We know the email, but we need to get the secret question. Just ask him for it.
Enter the secret question and email in the fields and click send. You have now reset his password and can find the new one in an email to his email from Blizzard. Step Seven: Changing Info The only thing you need to do is change the registered email address to your email. Do this in the main account management page. After entering your email, Blizzard will send a confirmation link to the victim's email. Accept that, and your golden. Be sure to delete all the mail in his email from Blizzard about this. Ban Prevention If the person reports you, Blizzard will see this as a direct impersonation of a GM, which is a strong reason to take action. The trial account is no worry, but the main account is. That is why a scammed account is preferred. After the scam, delete then remake the character at least 3 times, being sure to login after each creation. Then, go to your World of Warcraft folder and delete "logs" "WTF" and "Cache". Then delete them in your recycle bin. Using this, I find there is only a 20% ban rate, which isnt bad if your using a blank account, and also, you can usually get 5-6 people in the time it takes for a GM to respond to a ticket. This scam can have many variables and can sometimes not work. It does get much better with practice, but here are some tips:
*Be sure to keep chatting on ****bank
*Use perfect grammer and spelling when talking as the GM, and normal game chat on ****bank
*Don't think everything will go exactly the way you plan, you will need to improvise.
*Best victims are people witout level 70s Good luck and Happy Easter! | Donate to remove ads, get your "DONATOR title, and get access to the MMOwned community's elite Shoutbawx.

EDIT: when you are acting as GM tell them they wont be able to talk to the GM, and instead it'll go to the respond before that, should fix the flaw

I tried it on 1 person so far and he didnt find out. I didnt get the account though because it was his brother playing |

A didn't see the bit about the bank =D
Nice idea

I try to get the person thinking that someone else was just on thier account, giving away gold, to make the I.P. change more believeable. Again guys, can't stress this enough, I would not use this on your beloved account, you could get banned. Use one of the many scamming guides here and remain safe. |

Reputation: 5 Level up: 38%, 310 Points needed | | | | Seems like a nice scam, except the player can't respond to you as you pretend being a "GM". :S
And i heard there'll be an icon in front of the name in 2.4, so use it now as much as you like coz u won't be able to use it anymore when patch comes. ^^ |

This is the reason a scammed account is HIGHLY preferred. But, of course, with the time it takes for the ticket to go through, you could have scammed 4+ accounts. | | |
