Sirdavino where are your sources? Because you are completely wrong.
You cannot sell WoW gold for real money. Not only is it against the rules, but Blizzard does not recognize it as a real transaction. It's not just because it's virtual, but because all gold, characters, items, and accounts belong to Blizzard.
Selling gold is not illegal. Scamming accounts is not illegal. Scamming gold is not illegal. Selling scammed accounts is not illegal. Selling scammed gold is not illegal.
Could you get sued for it? Possibly. Could you lose the case? Possibly. However, it is not illegal. Illegal means against the law. You can, however, get sued for practically anything you can think of. Calling someone a bad name is not against the law; it is not illegal. However, you could be sued for $3000 over it.

Embalm, it was never stolen, the Gold is owned by Blizzard.
It may have changed hands of the 'renter' but its still owned by Blizzard.
So how can it be stolen when the owner remains the same?
And to this comment - ok it was owned by Blizzard -- How was it obtained? By using means in which the “renter” did not pay for it.

Illegal, in terms of law, means something that's against the law. If you're going to say that something is "illegal" in this context, that means it is a criminal act.
So, yes, the term "illegal" definitely has a double meaning. I am saying that scamming gold, selling scammed gold, scamming accounts (unless by phishing or something similar, which IS illegal), and selling scammed accounts are not crimes.
