I told my friend about this awesome site and he joined. He told me that he cant start any threads, or edit his profile. Do you know why?

erm well to start threads i believe u need 5 posts, It tells you when you try to post why you cant and i believe it also says why you cant (if it is restricted to him the reason why he cant edit his profile)
