Highest Burst Casting DPS?

I'm a little bit confused as to what class to play. I was playing a warlock up to level 7 and was told that Warlocks are more of a DOT Steady DPS class, by somebody, who recommended I play an Elementalist Shaman.

But I've read here in the forums that there are a couple of contenders for this, Moonkins, Mages, Hunters.

Somebody on my server even recommended a Shadow Priest.

Any insight into these classes would be appreciated - I'm new and don't really know anything about this game.

I just want to be able to level fast and be somewhat viable/good in PVP lateron. (I don't mind learning a class and playing to its potential.)

Protection paladin. I've never died from 1-62.

You can pull 10 mobs and own them at once. That's leveling fast.

But when you get to lvl 60 you gotta switch to retri for LOTS of damage.

Destro lock has the highest burst damage PvP wise. Nothing can kill me besides rogues, I hit 12k conflags on a druid with pvp gear on. My burst is insane, it's just too OP.
I get 5-6k DPS in my PvE gear as a destro lock too.

I would stick with lock if your mainly a pvp person they kick ass period

I've only really seen 1 or 2 shamans with amazing dps, so I would go mage myself.

but if you want survivability in a caster shadowpriest tops all except maybe lock

WELL elemental shamans are OP too..!

with 232 item level gear i do 19k lava burst in bgs..!

Every Class can burst.

Sure Elemental Shamans have a heavy Burstdmg but also Lock´s can burst pretty good as Destro. It Depends on your Playstyle and what you would like to play.

Moonkins can Burst pretty hard also, but it doesnt matter if we say "Play XXXX Class" and you can´t play the class right. Find the Class for yourself, they can Burst thats not the Problem

I have a lock/s priest and oomkin. They are all in the same gear range from 226-232. Locks are nasty damage but in our guild there is a oomkin who pulled 16.3k on twins last week. Ill try to find a SS of our from our guild page.

In my opinion an Arcane mage (Stacked AB + PoM + MB/MBarr) or ele shaman (Lava Burst/NS Chainlightning) has the highest predictable burst in the game. A fire mage has the highest procced burst in the game (Hot streak)
