Is blackmailing in game legal??

I was wondering if black mailing some one in game was legal. Like i know this guy is botting every day in the same place I farm for ore which is SB. Every time he swoops down and grabs my ore. He is obviously botting because he is
1. Afk on and doesnt have auto clear or anti afk
2. Stupid enough not to have a guild
3. Doesnt have an auto responder
4. His name has to do with some sort of bot/hack


Its like if you made a Character in wow and you named it Iuseglider. Thats what this guy basically did and farms saronite all night long.


Some friends of mine have seen him bot and i told them not to report cause i know how much it would suck to get reported and bot. So i was wondering if i were to send him a message in mail asking for like 5k gold in exchange to no one reporting. Is it ethical?

Not really. He will probably not respond, and just stop botting for a little while in case you did report him.

There is not much that you can do other than report him.

Eh I've had people say they reported me, didn't get banned, if hes got an account to bot with, he can get another, I'm sure he's not worried about it.

Sure you can blackmail him. Blizzard can't say shit
On the other side, he won't give a care and just stop botting for a while, or may not even notice. Try a smaller sum

On talking too a 'GM' the other night, he said something that interested me greatly:

Casino's and anything remotely related too 'Gambling' 'Blackmailling' 'Bullying' etc are strictly against Blizzard's policies. Anyone caught doing these actions have actions taken against them

So, I believe it would be frowned upon if they saw you do this. I doubt the guy would report you though, seemingly as what he is doing is just provoking the 'blackmail' and he doesn't have a liable defence to report you back - "Yea, Blizz, this dude just blackmailed me into giving him 5000g because if I didn't he'd tell you I was botting"
