Question for scammers

Yesterday I received a scam email from "Blizzard" saying that my account was under investigation for account selling/trading, and that I would need to log in to confirm my identity.

The website linked was something along the lines of Blizzardaccountconfirmation.[freehost].com

This made me laugh for quite a while, and it also made me curious;

Do people actually fall for phishing scams hosted on free webhosts?



(Also quite funny, the ameteur did manage to send the message to one of my emails hooked to a WoW account.... which is Trial and contains only a lvl 8 Rogue.)

Yeah, they do. You don't normally look at a website address to much do you? Getting linked to something like that you normally just say okay and do it.

I guess it's just a lack of the not-so-common common sense.

Pretty much every website states that they will never ask for your password, yet for some reason, when people get emails like that, all reason leaves their minds...

Ofcourse they do, this many scammers wouldnt wait their time making phising sites if it didnt bring an a healthy amount of accounts.

See, it's about making the victim( which in this case is you) believe that they are either getting a great deal, i.e cheap wow gold etc - Or they create tension for the victim, if you receive an e-mail that your account is under investigation and you value your account then your like: " OMFGGRANNY'S-NICKERSPLX!? ". In creating this 'tension' or 5 minutes of 'madness' the scammer can make the victim do anything they want tbh - hence why people get scammed.
