Question [QUESTION] Legal to scam?

Is it legal to scam like making a youtube video which contains an download link on a program that send you the email and password to someone.

I mean a normal youtube scam like:

Send an email to [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] which contains a Gamecard and you will get two Gamecards back"

That is legal, right?

But if you do a youtube that contains a download link on a program which sends the victims password, name, last name, SQ, etc when he fill it in and clicking "SEND".

Everything is only against Blizzards rules, but Blizzard isn't law... So this is legal?

It is completely legal to post such a video.

But if someone actually is stupid enough to send you something and you don't live up to your side of the proposed bargain, then that is illegal.

You'd probably get away with it because:

1/ no-one would be stupid enough to take up your proposal.
2/ The police have more important stuff tio deal with.
3/ If someone was stupid enough (see 1) they might be too embarrased to try and get it sorted.

That's in response to the gamecard scam.

THe other scam you mention is illegal too, and taken much more seriously. At best it's phishing (which is highly illegal) and at worst it sounds like a trojan, which would get you in even more trouble if caught.

What?

Depends exactly what you did. If you got that mage because you got someone's password, then yes, that is illegal.

It's not clear what you mean in your last post, so I am not sure. But yes, if you got someone else's character and sold it, then damn straight that's illegal.

For a start, if you log into someone else's account, that's fraud. You're claiming to be someone else, and making money from that if you sell the account/character.

If this is what you did, I hope you get caught. Sharing exploits and guides is fine, exploiting a game system is great to level a bit faster or make some in game gold, but just plain stealing from another person is not good.

Its not illegal to scam gold/accounts, because you don't own them in the first place, it is states in the ToU that you are merely renting the accounts from them.

Its not illegal to scam accounts to sell for money, because of above reason.

Technically, impersonating a company and creating an email address to look like it comes from their company is a copyright violation.

That's about it, though.

I find it interesting to see the moral spectrum of people who visit this site. IE I will be a complete jackass in game but would never take that into RL. Stealing money from people is a line i simply morally will not cross. However the fact exists that others are fine with that and frankly the fool and his money are soon parted rings true in these parts.

That being said I think the question you need to ask yourself is not 'was what I did illegal' -- if you ask that it probably was, but will you get caught? hell no. The real question you and all scammers need to ask is "Am I truly comfortable stealing from other humans?". Personally my answer is no, but in the same regard I do not judge others whose are fine doing so. Perhaps it is an entitlement issue at heart.

I personally think that some of the people here enjoy the process of tricking others rather than the payout, but maybe I am naive. Happy scamming and back to my alcohol.

You are absolutely right in all your remarks. And note, I used to lead COMSA, MMOwned's contributor and up-only scamming organization.

I wish there were more people like you on MMOwned.

Okay, so if we say the following videos is mine, are they legal if I steal accounts with help of the videos and then selling them for real money?

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

There's no way that I get caught by theese videos?

I mean they only brake Blizzards ToU and not the law. The law doesn't say "Don't steal others accounts.", or?

> Illegal because it is breaking EULA by using "Hacks" (More of a Scam than a hack)
>> It will make it LEGAL because the person sending the card ALSO broke EULA, therefore you can't get in any trouble, as they were using a program that could be considered as a "Hack".

So even if the police would have all information they need to catch me they couldn't because its not illegal to scam an account with an hack (like one of the youtube above) and then sell it?

It is illegal. Every stealing is illegal. Thats why its called stealing. Lol, you are stealing something dude. Making keyloggers or viruses and then using them to steal any information is illegal if you use those informations to your profit. The things you steal are not yours. Do you really think its legall to steal a car from your neighbour ? And then park it in your garage? uhm... no

There are more people like that

Once you virtually ''sign'' the ToA, if you go against them you're going against the law, because the law says that if you sign something, you have to stick to it. Hope that this cleared some of your minds
