LOL..... How can I create a private server. The guides on MMOwned tell me how to manage a private server but they do not tell me how to create one (like the proggrams to use and such). Anyone know how or know a good tutorial for making one?
Sorry
sorry guys, I just had a quick question about making my own editable private server, well, actually its a question about a different thread on the emulated server guids
the link to [GUIDE] Setting up a server 2.4.x With pictures. Very easy(With and Without Hamatchi) is: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
my question is: is the "yourservername" (the code that you are supposed to put into the panex config file) a made up name or is it your DynDNS host name? or is it your DynDNS account name?
also is the "yourdyndns" that you must put into the panex config file your DynDNS hostname or account name or ip address?
last question, is the "myWoWserver" that you have to enter into the navicat connection box the same thing as the "yourservername" that was previously entered into the panex config files? thanks
noone will answer this on the actual thread so i figured id give it a go on this thread. Thanks so much guys

If you can't find out how to set up a server you should probably learn more about computer and server things. If you don't then if you even get to making your server public then you would probably not do very well because you would not know what to do in making custom items, starting areas, malls, ect
Just found something that was pretty interesting to me (even though everyone probably already knows about, it is a question not a comment) I was just browsing my WoW folder and i noticed something I went into the "Cache" folder and then into WDB folder and then into the enUS folder. i found some files that were defaulted to the program microsoft works. The files include:
Gameobjectcache
itemcache
itemnamecache
itemtextcache
npccache
pagetextcache
questcache
wowcache
Of course when i open these files, i get an error message that they are corrupt, can anyone tell me what these files are and IF i could open them, what would they do?
thanks
Well, it could technically be possible, if the both the login server AND the target realm server would be compromised to allow remote execution of code. In sucn an extreme case, one who is knowledgeable in SQL (if that indeed is the database type that's being used for login and characters alike) could probably consult whichever content he/she desires.
However, such an attempt would quickly be noticed by Blizzard, and if they can somehow link the attacker to his account, rest assured said account will be banned with extreme prejudice.
Possible? Yes, although the "odds vs risk" ratio sucks too much for anyone to consider this a viable option. Moreover, chances of vulnerabilities being found are slim to none.
