WotLK client help

I want to try WotLK on some private servers, but i don't want to download anything that would make it so that i couldnt go back on normal servers and play on my main, so my question is: If I download and install WotLK can i still play on live realms even if im not in the beta?

You will not be able to play on any Live realms with the Wrath Of the Lich King client as long as you are not in the Closed Beta.

However, if you're clever enough, hop over to the Emulator guides section, and check out how to join/create one of your own private servers.

well, from my days in wotlk alpha realms, you can download the beta client and still have another copy of WoW that you can use for your Live sessions... all this would take is two copies of wow

The beta client is stored in a totally separated folder and does not touch you original wow what so ever. You can just go onto a private server without risk, just do not ever use your login you use on official servers of course. But ya knew that.

so i CAN play WotLK on pserver and live realm on the same server?w/o being in beta
