Hello there, everyone. Sorry for the leecher status, I may not be able to prove it but during the last 8 months my access to the internet has been very limited to IRL reasons.  Whenever I can, I still play WoW and every now and then read these forums too. I guess it's time to start contributing soon as I've started to hang out here more and more, but let's start with a quick question. Since the botting section doesn't allow questions, I guess I'll ask here. I tried searching but searching for bots and bans gets me quite a few results 
Let's get to the point:
I have 2 WoW accounts and I transferred all the characters to the other one, so now I have an empty useless account and I've thought of botting an alt with it. After reading a lot of forum posts, getting banned wouldn't probably be a surprise especially for an inexperienced botter like me.
So let's say that I have both accounts active and I log on them every day. I start botting on the empty account and one day I get permabanned. Does Blizzard check any data related to the banned account? I log on to both accounts from the same IP so can my real account get banned? I wouldn't like to lose my T6 character because of a silly experiment   |

Afaik nobody knows exactly how Blizz is banning accounts but I think somewhere in the ToA (or whatever) it says that they wont take action to more than the acc you got banned on. (Is this correct english? oO)

Reputation: 13 Level up: 16%, 424 Points needed | | | Yeah, I guess the banning policy isn't written anywhere but I'd be happy to hear some stories if anyone knows about cases like this. Just post if you or your friend has been banned and had a secondary account that was or wasn't banned in the process, I'd be happy to hear. |

They typically only ban by payment information. And bans don't carry over. For example, if you have 3 accounts, all with the same credit card, and you bot on one of them, it's possible they will close all 3 accounts. But if you make a new account with that credit card, it's fine.
If you've stolen tons of accounts or something similar, they may ban accounts associated by IP. This is rare, though. |

name ban? - never heard of it being done
payment ban? - use gamecards
and as far as botting goes, its not "hacking", the program blizzard uses to catch hacks i believe is called "warden"
botters get banned by going afk and getting reported, or doing the same motions over and over and over again
simple tips: dont go afk (irl, and its getting EXTREMELY tempting, i made a homade bot for bgs)
dont belong to a guild
stay out of populated areas. | |
