OWNED by a GM....and some insight into what info GM's can pull up.
I came across this topic from WoWInsider about a player trying to scam a GM into giving his epic flight skill. None of this information is "earth shattering" but it is a nice glimpse into what info GM's have available .

For those who hate walls of text I'll sum up what I think is important from these posts:
1. Blizzard's logs go back at least 2 months, but older logs are harder for GM's to pull up.

GM Auryk says "Alright, Kiranth, sorry for the delay I had a lot of information to look through. Seeing as how this took place about two months ago, the logs were a little harder to look up. Let me go though, step by step, and detail the turn of events as I see them"
2. Blizzard logs guild chat.

GM Auryk says "or because you had to get a new computer (including a “fairly good graphics card” and double the ram of your old computer) as you told your guildmates"

I also find it a bit confusing when you mention on 03/01/2008 between 20:12:20 and 20:12:51 that you, “cant wait for the faster mount” because you “just need the skill [cause you] already have Red Riding Nether Ray”
3. Blizzard logs contain info on zone changes, AH transactions, and individual player gold amounts.

I have a feeling, however, that in this specific case would not have done much good, if any at all. The reason I say this is because upon doing a few searches of my own, I see that at 2/11/08 at approximately 20:48:45(GMT) you zone into the Outlands with 149 gold 98 silver and 42 copper. I see that at 21:38:05(GMT) you purchase your Red Riding Nether Ray (which at Exalted with Sha'tari Skyguard costs 160 gold). Following that, you log out with about 14g99s42c, congratulations on your Primal Waters selling. :0)

PWNT, and also a bit scary about the exact gold in zoning.... heh dont buy gold without putting it in the Gbank for me now>.> walk in with 1g and walk out with 8g ... too much for me to do now lol

Believe it or not, this is where I get most of my info as the WoW Lawyer: the Customer Service forum.
This isn't the only info you can pick up from there. Sift through a bunch of the threads and you'll learn a lot about how Blizzard works.
That logging stuff is common sense, though. Blizzard indeed keeps logs of every single action you take in the game, including trading, mail, whispers, guild chat, attacks, and even movement (to see if someone is speed hacking.)

Well, that's a scary warning to everyone who has thought about trying to scam a GM out of some gold, honor points, arena points, etc. Needless to say I'm sure they're not all that vigilant, and the reason so many people get away with shit is because many GMs are too lazy to investigate the issue thoroughly, but it's frightening how much info they can pull up when they try.
OP (the guy who tried to scam the GM, not the OP of this thread) is a fool for taking it public on the WoW forums. The minute you take it public and create a buzz that gives Blizzard bad PR, ofc they're going to look right into the issue and make sure the issue is put right. And lol, this is the hardest owning I've seen in a long time. Congratulations on your Primal Waters selling. :0)
