10-guest pass keys, what to do with them?

So of course I get these little 10-day guest pass keys with every gamecard and copy of the game I buy, I've got lots sitting around my house, 3 which I can find right now.

I'd rather give them to someone who can use them, instead of throwing them out.

But since trial accounts can be created on the Warcraft website without a code, I don't understand how these are used.

Can someone enlighten me?

Pretty much, if you happen to have a friend, or know someone who is going to be buying the game, you can use your key instead of them just creating a new account.
When they pay for their first full month doing it that way, you'll get a free month of playing. That's what I did for my second and third account when I started them. So pretty much you buy the battlechest for 40 bucks, then get a free month on two accounts, so it's like paying 10 dollars for WoW and TBC.

Rather use recruit a friend because you get extra gametime.
