What they DO plan on using it for, from what my sources tell me, is an exit to the Stormwind Vaults. SW Vaults will be an instance (if ever) for the higher-end levels. It's a mirror in concept as the Stockades, but it was designed to retain magically-powered beings like Mages, Warlocks, etc. As to the reason why you're cracking heads? No clue; they're still concepting. But ya, possibly for Cataclysm's 80-85. Hasn't been mentioned, but it's a possibility. The instance DOES exist, but it's not in play. The portal is deactivated, but hopefully it won't be like that forever. Supposedly, when you're done, you'd end up outside the gate, or vis-versa. As for what it was supposed to be Im not sure maybe a lore expert would know.

in alpha wow shuld be there Guild House but it overload server so they don't add it and for no know reson leave portal |

Reputation: 1 | | | Blizzard developers are lazy. Just look at the Outland testing zone, that place is still around today during 3.2. They probably just can't be assed to pull it out...If there is something planned for it in the future though, it won't happen anytime soon. |

If it was in the beta and didnt get on they just left it there along with millions of other things that are in the game such as that place beyond isle of conquest, the place behind Ahn'Qiraj and loads of other stuff that you can find if you explore the boundaries. |

If you look at the section of the world map object from underneath, you'll see that this portal is sitting on a shelf - the rest of stormwind's WMO, aside from the entrance, is floating above a basin. This leads me to believe that this area was added late into SW's development. From all the leaked 2001 screenshots, it looked like all the player housing was outside of the main cities. Perhaps this was intended to be a portal to 'somewhere else'. |

Yeah, I heard that they were going to add a worgen district to SW... It's wither at that spot, or the wall in-between Cathedral and Dwarven district. They blew a hole in the wall to make the harbor, so I'm sure they can do hte same for the Worgen district. |

It seems s pointless and misplaced discussion to me, but thats my appinion
