Yeah, I saw this ages ago. Several videos were made even, saw some guy do it in the flesh as well. I also see no real use in it.

As for the reason as to why people do this. I thought it was fairly obvious why -- security and safety. There is several things not to do if you're ever a member of a exploit website (and I've been a member of several for various games). The following rule, to me, is the single most important one.
"Don't ever say your account/characters name." - Why is this my single most important rule? Because the companies who develop the MMORPG's
do tend to scan exploit sites. They scan them to catch the exploiters when they let down their guard, and also to find exploits they can fix (it happens a lot, and you probably won't even realise).
If you display yourself exploiting a bug in the game and then a Blizzard employee were to come along (Blizzard used as an example, replace "Blizzard" with any MMORPG's company name) and you did not blur out your name, then don't be surprised if you get a little e-mail saying your account was banned.
