[Exploit] Advanced Rooftoping in Darkshire [Horde] - 02-08-2008

Hey guys,

This exploit guide is a completely different tactic used to exploit Darkshire than the very vague one posted a long while ago. This one is far more advanced, and I assure you, you will like it more. This guide is to show you how to have the most World PVP fun you have EVER had. It's time to actually use all that PVP gear you worked hard for. So turn on some metal music, and let's begin:

1) Make your way to the gryphon master in Darkshire. If you go around back, and approach in the way shown below. There are no npcs with in a 30 foot aggro radius. Completely safe. Mount up and jump the fence onto the roof. (Note: Can also get onto the roof without a mount, for in-combat purposes)

2) You are now standing ontop of the inn in Darkshire and can freely move about. If you approach side of the roof where the entrance to the inn is. You can cover the entrances to 3 different buildings as well as the courtyard as seen below.

3) To the left of where you are facing from the above picture. You can cover the entire walkway that is commonly used by newbies to get to the gryphon. Kind of like a buffet.

4) And coming from the area where you hopped onto the roof from (my personal favorite), you can reach EVERY path any ALLY takes to get up to the gryphon. Level 70s are constantly flying in to meet up for Karazahn (and half the time they are AFK when they land). Take them out! You can even hit the gryphon master and spawn a bunch of gryphons that will just sit there.

5) Each time you take an ally out. Be sure to check for when they revive. 80% of the time they will revive HERE. You can drop down, one-shot them, and get back on the roof within 5 seconds.

6) Here is where the REAL fun begins. After you have killed and camped a decent amount of noobies. They WILL (happens everytime) get on their main level 70 chars and/or call their 70 friends to come and take you out. You have the COMPLETE advantage. 90% of these level 70s that come to try and get revenge have never been on top of the roof you are on. They WILL fall the first time they try and get up. Not only will they fall, but you will be within attack range the entire time they are trying to get up. I can get a full round of dots on the target before they even try and make the jump. I can imagine it would probably be funny to place an ice trap by the jump spot. I have been able to hold off up to 3 level 70s trying to gank me, for a good amount of time. Use these evasive and LoS maneuvers to mess with them IF they manage to get onto the roof.

7) You can even jump INTO the chimnney and completely stealth yourself, AND have a complete view of the entire area. (If you have max camera distance on)

Again, I found using this strategy to be 10X more fun than any other Darkshire rooftopping posts ive seen. Once you master it, you will see how much fun it is as well.

HINT: Take a friend up there with you. I've had up to 10 level 70 allies trying to work just two of us off the roofs.

HINT: If you do happen to die. Revive, instantly mount, and run off into the trees and there are endless amounts of places you can hide/drink/recover at.

WARNING: Out of the months and months and months of doing this, and the amount of chaos I have stirred up in Darkshire on my server, I have only had one GM contact me. He simply asked me politely to step off the roof. I agreed. The next day, I was back in action. Never heard from a GM since. But it can happen. To be honest, it's so much fun it's worth the tiny risk.

Enjoy unleashing havoc. Best to do it during server primetimes.

Thanks for reading.

hey - 02-08-2008

Well, I considered it more of an exploit than a guide for 2 reasons. One, yes you can kill the guards ect without them doing anything. And Two, the GMs consider it an exploit in the game. Thanks for the replies

The GMs consider everything on this website an exploit (besides guides) or a hack.

There is another cool ganking spot, I just can't remember the name, it's the village south-west of Westfall (near Deadmines). Hard to get on the roof though, you need to walljump. But not as good as this one. Oh but you can get on the roof where you enter Deadmines, without walljumping, if you go on those mountains, mount up, and slowfall towards the roof.

The only time it isn't fun is when the GM decides to port you down into the middle of town after telling you you aren't allowed to be up there. And then porting you back into the middle every time you manage to get away.

Otherwise, it is fun as hell =D
