I searched and found nothing on this, might be classed as common knowledge.

When waiting for a patch to download you get a small amount of time where you are connected directly to the blizzard server but after 10 minutes or so they stop feeding the patch to you and you're left to download from other people which from my experience takes a long ass time.

Anyway all you do is when you notice you're no longer downloading from blizzard simply exit the downloader and restart it and you get download from blizzard again

also, wowwiki.com has a large list of mirrors that i personally use if the patch is big and the wait is too long:

Amazingly there is an easier way to do this.

Go to tools / options / watever it is on the downloader... and uncheck the box that says "Enable Peer To Peer".

Congrats... direct download... no upload... and no annoying downloading from others.

meh, you're simply downloading from other clients, rather than refreshing the connection to blizzard's server, as he stated.

either way could work just as well, although P2P tends to be a little bit choppy and unreliable.

If you remove p2p you download from blizzard only (That from my Experience in downloading the full wow + patches).

i figured this out last night when downloading TBC got the entire 1.18 gig file in about 15 min

i have no idea why but i was dl-ing at around 1.5-2 mb/sec way better than p2p
