Apart from this, you can do this to get Eagle Eye to go as far as you want:

/cast Eagle Eye

When using that macro you will be able to "chain-cast" Eagle Eye from your Eagle Eye vision to get very far. A thing to keep in mind with this is that if you go too far in one "step" it's quite likely to break. I was able to go from Darnassus to Hyjal with this (the uninstanced Hyjal where Archimonde's corpse is by the world tree).

If you use this the thing with the pet is kinda unnecessary. And by "going around corners" with the pet + Eagle Eye, you can cast Eagle Eye on your minimap, so you can just select to cast it around the corner normally from the minimap.

The shaman one (cant remember name) works too like Kezah told. You can use it and go even further without already existing "vision" buff disappears when casting.
