I've searched the forum without finding this trick, sorry if it's a repost.

With the servers lagging badly recently (EU servers anyways), we were a few guild mates cleaning up our banks since it was impossible to pvp / pve correctly due to the lag.

So after transferring some items we had in our personal banks to the guild bank (pots, food, enchanting mats, etc...), I asked them to put in some gold for the tanks' repair bills.

About 10s after two of my guildmates put some gold in the guild bank, the server apparently crashed.

When we relogged after they restarted it, my two guildmates still had they gold they put in the guild bank, and it was still in the guild bank too.

We tried this again the same day, and the day after, all running to the bank when the server began to lag badly and all putting some gold in it (in fact we put gold in it, then retake it, restash it, etc, untill the server finally restarts or crashes).

We didn't do it with large amounts to avoid getting banned, hell we just did it for fun, but we still managed to dupe around 800g in those 2 days.

So if you see a lot of people running to their gbank while your server is getting really unstable, then you'll know why they do so. ;p

Good idea, in theory, but that would take quite a bit of coordination and a bunch of ppl sitting around a bank, waiting for server lag

Not bashing your idea, it actually may contain some merit, but IDK if the US servers are having these same lag problems.

Kudos to finding this.

I know it's kinda hard to reproduce, couldn't do it again after last weekend's lags (they fixed the server). But server instability is quite frequent on my battlegroup (Cataclysm / EU). :P

Highly doubt it as the weekly maintainanceis planned, and they have procedures for it. While server crash is is most likely not :P

rofl if you play Kel'Thuzad ur in luck for this one, lol because lately almost every night we've been crashing, omg it's such a bad server, so next time i think it's about to crash ill give it a try.

and to maybe add onto this, there are some techniques on this site that show u how to make ur server crash so maybe u could incorporate that with this, lol just a though.

thhis exploit can be done in a lot of ways and yes it works. u can trade an item as well and both you and your m8 should have it or u can put somthing on the bank and let him buy it, its working with every trade as long as the server crashed in an x amount of time after u trade/dposit whatever.

I actually did this (well same idea), i turned in a quest right before a server crash and i got the time, xp and gold. When the server was back up i was standing by teh guy and turned the quest in again and got the same item and the gold and xp. So i believe this can be done.
