I don't think GM's would waste there time with banning low gold buyers. Its the 1k+ gold buyers that should be banned. 500g would get you some pretty armor that might last you 10 lvls.. So in other words, it's a low chance you could ban someone with $10. $10 isnt a huge amount of money, so stop making it sound like you can get dinner or a new game lol.

If it worked.. I'd spend $50 to ban a few people that I really hate.

A few months ago on another forum I tried to research the question "Does Blizzard ban gold buyers or just sellers" and all I could find was that they only ban gold sellers, I couldnt find a single instance or report of them banning gold buyers. Here's some of what I found:

1) Blizzard bans 30,000 World of Warcraft accounts [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] (It seems from the article that the Gold Farmers', not gold buyers' accounts were banned)

2) Blizzard banned over 5400 accounts and suspended 10700 more [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] (Again it seems from the article that the Gold Farmers', not gold buyers' accounts were banned)

3) Blizzard stated [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] :

"The World of Warcraft Terms of Use clearly states that all of the content in World of Warcraft is the property of Blizzard, and Blizzard does not allow “in game” items to be sold for real money… If you are found to be selling in-game property (such as coins, items, or characters), for real money, you will lose your characters and accounts, and Blizzard Entertainment reserves its right to pursue legal action against you as well."
(Here Blizzard clearly specified it was against the TOS to sell their in game intellectual property, they didn't say it was against the TOS to buy it.)

4) Blizzard later announced: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

"In our continued efforts to combat cheating in World of Warcraft, more than 105,000 accounts were closed and over 12 million gold was removed from the game economies in Europe, Korea, and the US in the month of November. The closed accounts were associated with activities that violate World of Warcraft's Terms of Use, such as using third-party programs that allow cheating, and farming gold and items. These types of activities can severely impact the economy of a realm and the overall game enjoyment for all players.

We will continue to aggressively monitor all World of Warcraft realms in order to protect the service and its players from the harmful effects of cheating. Please note that selling World of Warcraft content, such as gold, items, and characters, can result in a permanent ban of the involved accounts from World of Warcraft."
(again they specifically mentioned Selling and not buying)

The long and the short of it is that I was unable to find a single news story where Blizzard had banned people for Buying Gold.
