Blizzard has ben preventing this name change thing by noticing that you have deleted your player and made a lvl with the exact same name.


well there is a new way

1) delete your player you want to change the name of

2) make a trial account

3) Make the lvl 1 with the old players name on a diferent computer (they check IP's)

4) wait a day

5) Page a GM on your main accounts and computers alt.

6) GM has no proof that you did a name change scam

hmm sounds promisable... id say level the guy a few times just to make it look like a new player. But what would you tell GM you got hacked?

i just find it hard to see myself deleting a character to rename it >_>

This actually does work. I did it no more than 2 weeks ago. I deleted my main and then told my friend to make a new character with the exact same name and had him level it to like 3 or so and then whispered a GM. The excuse I used was "I was trying to delete a bank alt and wasn't paying attention and deleted my main isntead" And he said "Aww I can sypothize with you as I have done this once before as well on my acount" And he told me wait a few moments and after a while he came back and said "It appears that someone has taken your name and you will have to choose a new one or I can see if I can get the old one back" I told him I would juse choose a new one so he logged me off and I had to choose a new name for my hunter on the next log on

cant someone else make a name that one of your chars have if you cancel your acc/they make a char named that, then renew ur acc?

What happens if i dont wait one day and i delete my MAIN and go make 3lv on diferent account on diferent computer and type to gm that i wanned to delete my bank char and i deleted my main istead instantly? what happens/ can it work

Yeah I tried it once, had a friend make an alt on his account, and they didn't even give me a chance to change the name, they just turned my characters name from haq to haqq.

I guess it all depends on which GM you get ahold of...

If they suspect that you have done this, GM's will force a name change onto your level 1 and give you back your old name.

The most surefire way to get your name changed is this -

"I have been playing this game for awhile now and have been negatively impacted by my name choice. Due to its origins and reputation, I have been discriminated against in trying to join guilds and run groups. I ask that you allow me too change my name to something more mature than the players of this game judge my current name to be."

They always give it to you.
