Well I don't know this is a bug or not but normally you cant escape from boss fights whenyou vanish...
On our second last attempt I tried with my rogue to not loose durability because I was sick of it wiping everytime and loose money... blabla so I tried to find a spot to survive.
so I ran to the closed gate and popped up clos and evasion, (for fun tbh and not to die while running to there).. if you run up to the right corner of the gate, there is mini ramp where you can jump on and put vanish on.. stay there and watch guildies die (only do this if you see the raid will wipe)
boss resets, gates open, no dura loss
on my last attempt on the boss, I tried the same and it worked again.
Test it out, rogues.
ps: I think it is for rogues only, other classes can try to
Generally if I Gmaster calls for a wipe, and you waste time fannying around trying to save your own skin you'll just end up hated by guildies.
If you're continually wiping in Mag, perhaps get the other instances on mopre of a farm status before attempting it... that's just as practical for saving durability loss.

Not since about 1.7-1.8. Vanish keeps the Rogue in combat on 99% of boss fights, and after everyone is dead the boss comes to the Rogue who just vanished (no matter how far away they were when they vanished) and kills them.

You don't leave combat if you vanish in a bossfight unless you're the last person alive. If you're not the last person alive when you vanish, you just reset your aggro to zero, but the boss will still come for you when all the other persons that has more threat than you has been killed.
ye this works on mag do it all the time, also works on gruul in his cave there are many big stones, just go stand between one of the stones and the wall vanish and youre agro is gone and you survived
