Im not sure if this works and I picked it up on the wow forums and its pure theory but here it goes:
the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] buff has the excact same value (5000) as the eye buff off the eagle in that quest.
That buff only lasts 2 minutes so it requires you to have a warlock friend to summon you there and even then you have only 1-2 tries so it requires you to be really hardcore about getting this one
This trick might or might not work (not confirmed yet) but its alliance only, I didn't do the quest and am the realms only proud owner of this sexy pet so far
Gah, I wish I didn't do this quest while leveling... atleast my hunter still has the ooze and ghost hydra from Sholazar from back when they were still tameable
For those having trouble with getting the timing right an alternative method is:
1. Get the mob to anywhere from 7100 - 7500 health
2. Cast Wyvern sting
2. At 14 sec left on sting begin taming
3. With 1 sec left on tame have a friend who has a high burst damage ability of around 2k hit the mob once
Basically you have to have the tame finish the moment he finishes the emote but prior to him transforming into a worgen. Either 0.5 sec too early or too late will result in him transforming into a wolf.
I have helped other hunters several times with this method and it is incredibly more reliable.

Just attempted this. The buff goes away when you leave the shady rest inn. Nice find but sadly doesn't work. Any other spells with the same affect?
Edit: Checked myself. There was only 1 other spell that gave an invis detection value of 5000 and it was from the druid epic flight quest chain. No dice.

enjoy him while he last he will most likely be hotfixed to wolf form for everyone on tuesday. take lots of screenies.
You don't know that for sure. Not sure if you would remember, but Ghost Wolf in Dustwallow Marsh was tameable and hotfixed, but Blizz let whoever tamed it keep it. You might still see a couple around today.

the worgen is a bit different it's more of a bug, it turning back into the wolf in arena show this. the ghost wolf shouldn't of been tamable while garwal is suppose to be tamable he's just suppose to revert back into wolf form when he is tamed. i would LOVE them to let us keep our worgens but somehow i don't see it happening.
