Wowexploits Quick Mining 450 skill and haven't mined in Northrend yet
Ok I searched the forums for this and surprisingly couldn't find anything similar. It may be a bit outdated for a Realm First achievement but it will help those who are just hitting 70 or those trying to lvl their mining for the ores in Northrend.

Upon the arrival of the wrath expansion I was still doing dailies around netherwing for my drake mount. I've always noticed that the nethercite ore was yellow at maxed 375 mining (during BC) and decided to see if it was still the case now WOTLK was out.

Luckily it was! So I went to Borean Tundra and paid for Grand Master Mining to allow me to reach 450 skill. Went back to the netherwing island and I ended up mining the ore all the way to 450 and got the Realm First - Mining 450 achievement. It took about 3-4 hours but didn't seem too long since I was doing my dailies there and searching for eggs. It stays yellow to about 430 and then it turns green. But it stays green all the way to 450. Even if you lvl your skill to when the nethercite turns green you will be ahead of the game in Northrend. What's even better is that there are tons of nethercite to find on the island and rarely anyone to fight for it, as opposed to searching for veins in Northrend since there are tons of miners there farming ores.

Yeah I know that nethercite is useless and only good for the netherwing daliy turn in but a stack of 20 gives a decent amount of gold at lvl 70 to the vendor and this compliments perfectly with those trying to still get their netherdrake mount. Also, when you get to Northrend, you will not have any problems mining anything and won't have to pass on any veins you discover. The ever elusive Titanium ore will be easy pickings since your skill is maxxed.

I would imagine this would possibly work for Herbalism then too. I have an alchy alt, but never picked any Netherdust since I never cared about his Netherwing rep.

I'm still in the process of doing my mining, I will definitely do this, thanks a lot man, I was tired of fighting off those kids on cobalt mines and didn't even give this a second thought.

Yeah, totally not an exploit. Blizzard obviously wanted miners to be able to get to 450 without stepping foot in Northrend, by mining pre-wotlk nodes, without having to compete with anyone else; therefore achieving realm first with ease.
