The Ocular is Nearsighted
A little bug I found for [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

The range on the item you get is 80 yards, while the range on The Ocular's beam is about 70-75 yards, giving you a nice dead zone to where you can attack it, and stay safe from his attacks.

Noted: You have to move in closer for the last shot or else you won't get credit for killing The Ocular.

Didn't bother reading the wowhead comments, and no where does it say in the quest or on the item that you can out range the ocular, so as far as working as intended, it was overlooked by the devs.
