Since many person post about soloing the chess event, I've decide to post my strategy, in case it can help some ppl who have problem soloing this event
First, remember 2 things
-The game is completly random so I can't predict what will happen
-Medivh is a cheater, so you must have a little luck when he'll cast his f**** aoe and when he'll heal all his pieces.
Ok now you're ready to fight, if your Queen is already die, you can abort this try, if not let's control the queen and blast Medivh pieces in this order:
-Queen -Healers -King
7. When his healers are down, control your king and go fight medivh's King
8. Don't forget to logout to avoid an instance ID so you can loot and retry it as many time as you want (thx to Duldregirn for this exploit!)
Why is this strategy working? Your rook will aoe and severely injure medivh's peon, so the healer will be overflowed and they don't focus heal on medivh's queen when you blast it.
What about Medivh's cheats? If medivh aoe another pieces that King, Queen or healers don't care about it, if not move as fast as possible the piece (especially the Queen)
I hope this can help ppl who don't succed in chess event for me it work like a charm, I don't lose any game against Medivh since I use this strategy

Move the pawn in front of the right healer, up 1 space. Control the warlock and nuke priority pieces 1) conjurer, 2) healer (being closest to the alli king), 3)healer (farther away), 4) king itself
If you leave a healer up, they have the ability to full heal the alli king, it makes you mad so take those out first, even if the king is low.
You want to move the right pawn, in front of the healer because should you be aoe'd, you need a space to go to. I've never had both spots aoe'd at the same time. Simply switch back and forth and the warlock will last a long time.
Easiest ever is to just move 2 spot forward with queen from the start, and nuke 1 healer, then king.. Works all the time for me.
Done it with 3x lvl 70 already today.. first try all 3 times
yea you dont even have to move anything but the queen. like the guy above me said, start the event with the king, leave him, and take control of the queen taking down a healer and then their king. hasnt failed me yet
not 100% sure the reason behind moving a pawn then taking control of the queen. that just wastes time imo

Dono if im the only guy this happens to. Been soloing this for a while and i do it but the MAGE AOE doesnt seem to work for me. Are you supposed to see damage signs come up or a noticeable change in HP over 10 seconds. It seems like the AOE he has does NOTHING. and i mean NOTHING. Btw, best strategy is to just get your queen out and start nuking, try to keep him behind stuff at all times so he doesnt get hit, and when your pieces have a peon or something down... just nuke them. If you want to do the relog its best if you have like only the opposing king left imo.
About the aoe, it happened to me, this spell is bugged like the warlock poison by the way.
Here is a little update about medivh's cheat
So as you probly know medivh has three cheat:
-Aoe: He burst 3 box and this aoe make 10k dmg per tick (3 sec I think)
-Heal: He make heal on all this pieces making their full life
-Berzerk: Three pieces enter in berzerk mod, avoid their at all price, even a peon could kill your Queen in 10-15sec
According to my strat, here is a timeline of the ideal chess game:
-I move my rightest peon
-I move my rook
-My rook is ready to fight (step 3) -------MEDIVH CHEAT: AOE--------- If your king are aoe, don't care about, the healer will heal him and I can resist to the aoe If your healer or your Queen are aoe, move then ASAP (Usually, medivh aoe 1 healer and 2 peons, in this case I didn't care, you can win with only 1 healer) ------------------------------------
-I burst his Queen
-His Queen is down ------MEDIVH CHEAT: HEAL--------- Ok all his piece are full life, but you have down his Queen ------------------------------------
-I burst the first healer
-The first healer is down
-I burst the second healer
-The second healer is down ------MEDIVH CHEAT: BERZERK------ If you are lucky, medivh will berzerk some pieces wich are far away from your important piece, but if berzerk a peon wich is fighting your healer or your queen, check if he is not low life, in this case burst him quickly. Berzerk increase dratsicly the damage done, but not the armor. In this part you need a little luck, if Medivh berzerk his king wich is near your king, you have lose, because cleave in berzerk inflict 20% damage to my king ------------------------------------
-I put my king near the Medivh's king
-I control my queen and burst a little before logout at 15-20%
