I've only tested this a few times so far and it's worked every time.
Supposedly they put in a fix that stops you from getting a deserter de buff if you disconnect during a battlegrounds. You can use this to cheat the de buff by 10 minutes.

Say you're in AV or a WSG that's going nowhere and you want to get out asap, but don't want to wait the full 15 minutes after you /afk. Here’s what you do:

Press alt+F4 to close your game.
Wait 5 minutes until you would normally AFK out if you were still logged in.
After 5 minutes passes, re log and you will be out of the battleground and won't have the 15 minute de buff.
Now you can re queue for what ever else you wanted 10 minutes earlier than if you were to just /afk out like normal.

Or you could just AFK out and get into a group, turn into a raid, have leader put you into group 3 and que the group!! And you are magically able to go into BG!! I haven't tried this since the last patch though, so could anyone confirm if it still works??

Confirmed. this is also a great way yo quit a battle and go on another char on the same account

tryed eirlier..used a macro to lag and D/C then logged on a dif name on that same account. went back later and i was out of battle w/o Deserter no more /afk then leaving open wow either

Just so people know you lose your queue's for other BG's too. It is obvious since when your offline for more then 5 minuites with a queue you lost it anyway.

yea very nice indeed.... i was in a PoS WSG group alliance turtle with their flag while they had 1 going after ours... i alt f4 and logged in 5 mins later, out of WSG with no buff actually
