When you had a non-combat pet you used to be able to spam it and run around. This had the effect of making your character look as if he/she were skating on ice. In one of the recent patches they made it so you could only summon them while not moving, thus removing the silly glitch.
With the new Gold Medalion that summons the spirit of competition you can run and spam summon it and your character will produce the effect mentioned above. Blizzard forgot to put in the summoning restraint.
