neat exploit for exploration and discovery town exp with no mobs anywhere.

I found a really neat exploit that I was able to duplicate about twice out of 4 or 5 times. Usually when I am grinding or doing tradeskills I always get bored so I leave wow in windowed mode with tons of other applications running in the background such as winamp, youtube, aim, etc etc... btw im running vista.

Heres the breakdown..

After a couple of hours wow bogs down and starts to be very choppy.. but still playable.

One time after running many explorer windows while i was taking a boat to auberdine.. there is a load time. I think i was running some other program at that exact same time coincidently.

What happened was after an abnormally long loading time I was disconnected from the server.. and as usual i logged back on.
after another long load time... i found my character in the middle of nowhere.. all black, as if i had fallin through the zone.

At this point i didnt know what to do so i started to walk around and then all of a sudden i started falling thru the blackness.... and fell to my death.

When i Resurrected, i found myself in bradhills graveyard instead of being in kalimdor auberdine.

So looking at the map and trying to figure if i should Gm... i started walking around.. and i noticed something very odd.. there were no mobs anywhere in the rolling green hills.

I thought maybe this plaec was scarce in mobs.
After i going to the east to aranthi mountains i noticed no mobs again.

so i thought hmm maybe i can start mining without the fear of getting jumped by mobs.

then i noticed something very odd.... it said i had discovered some towns in the Barrens, duskwallow marsh, 1k neeedles etc! and i even got exp for it. when i was still in azeroth!

I kept moving around and i kept on discovering lands i wasnt supposed to discover. Apparently clientside my character did fall thru and ended up in azeroth.. however to the servers my body was technically moving around in the kalimdor continent.

to make things even more weirder.... i saw mobs floating above me.. as if i should have been at the right altitude in the serverside kalimdor.... i even saw mining modes floating in air.. not accessible.

what was cool was that the mobs when they tried attacking me.. had a funny path because since i wasnt in the normal linar path.. they would attack and then disappear then leave combat.

so in a nutshell i spent 4 hours just wandering around and mining got around 5000xp from discovering lands i wasnt in however to the serverside yeah. what was even neat was later after i logged out and logged back in.. i checked the maps and found out the spots i did discovered was listed on the maps.

i guess its a easy way of discovery exp and exploration.

im trying to duplicate it again... try heavy loads multitasking in windowed mode. ... more to come =)

Lol this does happen in some cases when you have client lag not internet lag eg when it lags because of computer.

Works, I tested it while burning a huge file with both my CD and DVD burners, processors had too much to handle and happened like he said. Good job!

happened to me back in valentines. was swimming in water south of silithis, above me was STV npcs / mobs /players. i lost connection in GG logged back in underground. was spamming a macro at the time. anyway i couldn't really exploit it, as players were 20ft above me, i could rarely cast spells at alliance but i managed a few times. i could swim to the bottem of the water i was in and i would die a few meters from touching the bottem, had no fatigue / breath. repeated it by spamming the macro on my friend and he got sucked down too and we explored, but it was boring as hell.

This sounds almost exactly as if you model changed Kalimdor with Azeroth... Very weird, I can't imagine it working... I'll test it sometime soon.

I must point out this happened to me, apart from I was in Duskwood with my troll (Going to Elwynn for some Roleplaying) When I disconnected. A friend was with me. When I relogged I was in Silithus, Deep waters with no Fatigue bar and when I went up into the mountains in Duskwood I went up in a tree. I, somewhat considerate became scared and hearthstoned instantly.
However, seeing this I may subject that it is possible for the model changed to have taken place (note, I also saw spiders above me from Duskwood that kept falling down when they stopped, just exactly as a model change. However it was nurfed before this bug occured), and I may also subject that it may be possible to go over the edge of the world with this bug.

I had something similar to this happen to me several weeks ago...

I was in Eye of the Storm Battleground, and Disconnected whilst carrying the flag. When I got back into the game, the battle was over, and I was standing by the Battlemaster in Shattrath. However, the sky and atmosphere was that of Netherstorm, and there was no ground, but the NPC's and players will still there and could see me. My character couldn't move at all, and appeared to other people as running on the spot. I couldn't Hearthstone because I was 'running' and I couldn't unstuck for the same reason. I couldn't log out either, so I was very stuck
