Update 2.4.2: Nerfed. Can no longer be put in GMotD, however "|3" still crashes the game. There are still possibilities to send it over the hidden addon channels.

I recently found a text string, "|3", that crashes the client as soon as it's displayed anywhere. This has huge implications and I was planning to wait a bit before release, but someone else recently reported it on Blizzard's UI forum. Chances are this is a 2.4.1 specific bug that will be fixed in the next patch, so use this quick if at all.
Now to the actual exploit: Put the crash code in the guild message of the day, which makes guild mates crash when trying to log in. You must have permission to edit the guild message of the day. Run this macro:

Note that the other guild members will stay logged in for a couple minutes before they're booted. They won't be back, however.
In order to keep yourself from crashing, I wrote a small addon to immunize your client from the crash. Download and install [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] (2008-05-05), and when you run that macro you will not crash. You'll then be safe to leave the guild.
Disclaimer for the judgment impaired: this is bad. On a scale of one to bad, this is very bad. Blizzard isn't currently aware of this exploit, but I guarantee they will soon be investigating. I highly recommend using scammed accounts to carry out the crash.

Yup, if they didn't have rights to edit, they would've gotten a "You don't have permission to do that!" error. I had him copy+paste and all he got was invalid

Tell him to type it out, I've had things not work before from copy+paste, and then I typed them out and then it worked, so just a thought.
I believe that text string |3 was blocked some time back in WoW's past because people would say things like "|3itch" because the |3 can look sort of like a B. It was just a feeble attempt for people to go around people who use filters.
Could have come back into play recently somehow in the patch, but as to crashing, I don't think that would normally be the case.
