Cool little trick I found while running from a bird in Skettis. I happened to aggro one, and with the nerf to evading them by flying vertically, I decided the best way to get rid of it would just be to kill it.

The closest thing to me to land on was one of the tree trunks that have eggs in them (around 20 ft tall, basically half a tree with no branches). I landed in it, dismounted, and starting swinging at the bird, only to notice it was evading. After a few seconds of this, it flew off and resumed it's path. I searched skettis evade and skettis bird and I didn't see this method. Good luck and happy questing.

One thing I also do to avoid getting knocked off my bird is fly backwards. Since the mob is hitting you from the front you don't get daze. No Daze = No Knock Off. So just fly backwards and up if you want, and the mob will eventually reset and you will still be on your bird.

I suppose Common Sense and all on this, but as I always say "Common Sense is not Common."

Evading is very simple in WoW.

If you have agro and the mob believes that it cannot by any means attack you with it's chosen attack - i.e. if it wants to melee it will evade on melee even if it has a ranged attack - it will evade.

In the case of these birds it's probably just buggy code that does it since presumably a creature that flies faster than an epic flying mount could reach/hit you from anywhere.

One thing that's very useful for evading mobs of this type is to strafe fast between right and left, this way the mobs won't hit you which equals to no annoying dazed and possibly deaths :P
