The boss can be done solo, I didnt said anything bout the thrash did I :] ?
But yes, it will have to be cleared, also wrote that in a other reply, read before asking what you already have answered.

Sounds like it's possible to 2 man, but not solo. When he goes to syphon the crystals he'll syphon all of it and do his AoE.

Trying it my self ATM....What did you do about the crystals? Ignore them or drop em? I'm haveing trouble getting them down. And did you do this in Kitty or Bear gears.

Gave it a try this morning.
It' s easy to solo the 2 in the middle as a bear, so that' s what I did.
But when you attack the boss, the two crystal groups will attack you, so you have to clear those as well.
