first of all i know that there is another thread about this, and yes i did read it fully, but it did not solve my problem
so i set up a server and tried to connect, changed realmlist and deleted cache (just in case) but it still directs me to the blizzard realms...
my current realmlist is set like this:
set realmlist **not showing cuz its my ip**
set patchlist eu.version.worldofwarcraft.co
set realmlistbn ""
set portal eu
so if anyone can help me on this subject i would greatly appreciate it
Delete the last 3 lines in your realmlist, you only need the first line
(Or you can just put a "/" in front of the last 3 lines, in case you want to go to retail afterward). Also, if you are using 3.x version of WoW, the realmlist is located in your Data folder in case you made a realmlist.wtf file in your WoW directory (which will not work anymore)!
Make sure the realmlist is in this folder wowfolder/data/eneu/realmlist.wtf
also if your realmlist is not in the right folder it will go to wowfolder/WTF/config.wtf you can set you're realmlist there too.
Hm... perhaps you have more than WoW installed? If you have a copy, make sure you open the right shortcut. So if you're using the copied WoW folder as your private server client, use the WoW.exe from that folder to play. Hope that helped
it still has not been fixed, i have only 1 WoW installation and my realmlist is located in World of Warcraft/data/enGB/realmlist.wtf
i really dont know why it doesnt work for gods sake :S
You will always be able to connect to retail since retail uses battlenet.
Your private server should work depending on your realmlist file, but you will still be able to login to retail.
What username did you give your account on your server?
If you made it an email WoW will try to login in at Blizzards servers no matter what realmlist.wtf says.
Edit: Oh, if you made a username on your server without @ and you get an error about username or password being wrong, then you might have created the account in a wrong way. But when getting that error you have no way of knowing where WoW is trying to log into.
That was what I were doing for a day or so
Say you have created a user with the username: user and the pass pass. That will obviously give an error on Blizzards servers, but you will get the same error from your own server if you have created the account the wrong way.
What wowpew said, as blizzard uses battlenet you will always connect to retail. If you try to login to your own server and get unable to connect (by using the username + password you created for yourself) then it's a problem with your server configuration and not the realmlist.
the name is gave the account is spifkie
but i tryed to login with the email just to check if the realmlist was working, perhaps if i try the actual account name it will work?

Your not reading what I'm saying.
No matter what, email
will
work.
The normal account for your private server should work as well.
ok well thanks alot i got that working, but i am now experience trouble with connecting, it gets stuck at authenticating, the logonserver and world dont mention any errors, and the configs are absolutely right...
so any ideas?
Its the server then, the logon server for the private server is either busy or isn't working. And the problem with your realmlist was probably you for got to put "Set Realmlist" before the server's realmlist.
