    Question Realms.conf problem

    Hi guys,

    I've currently got a fully working server, which i'm trying to get the way I like it.

    --------------------------------------------

    However I have a problem with my realm.conf, at the moment its like this:

    <Realm1 Name = "Eternity Blizzlike RP"
    Address = "80.xx.xx.xx:8129"
    Icon = "RP"
    Population = "1.0"
    TimeZone = "1">

    <Realm2 Name = "Eternity Blizzlike PVP"
    Address = "80.xx.xx.xx:8129"
    Icon = "PVP"
    Population = "1.0"
    TimeZone = "1">

    This works fine, people can connect and play with no problems at all.

    -------------------------------------------

    Now, I want it to be like this:

    <Realm1 Name = "Eternity Blizzlike RP"
    Address = "eternitywarcraft.servegame.org:8129"
    Icon = "RP"
    Population = "1.0"
    TimeZone = "1">

    <Realm2 Name = "Eternity Blizzlike PVP"
    Address = "eternitywarcraft.servegame.org:8129"
    Icon = "PVP"
    Population = "1.0"
    TimeZone = "1">

    -----------------------------------------------

    However, after I change it, I get 'unable to connect to realm list server'.

    I want to do this as i'm going to the states and if theres a power cut, I wont be able to log on to my server without editing my realms.conf, which I wont be able to do.

    As the ISP will give me a differant IP address.

    -----------------------------------------------

    Anyone got any ideas? Also is there a program that could update the IP address in the realms.conf if the computer restarts?

    Thanks!

    You have correctly redirected your IP to that adress you have replaced into the config?

    yeap, my IP is redirected properly, my website all works and when my realms.conf is like the top. My servers works fine, but when I use the DNS name, I get a unable to connect to realm list error.

    My clients realmlist.wtf is also set to my dns name and it works fine, its only in this file.

    In the DB in realmd or w/e you may have it called have you changed the table for realmlist its default will be 127.0.0.1

    sorry brucey, dont really understand that, the databases dont have anything to do with the realms connection do they?

    I'm using Arcemu r3120, which I believe is the latest core.

    Editable files are:

    logon.conf
    world.conf
    realms.conf

    You need to edit your hosts file, to either (slap me for forgetting this one)

    Do it in this style:

    DynDNS ExternalIP
    ExternalIP DynDNS

    As far as i know, that has to be set up, but im not sure what way.. and that still wont completely fix your problem.

    hmm no good,

    my hosts file was set up right, but i still get 'unable to connect to realm list server'.

    I also change the external ip to 82.xx.0.0 and that works when I use my external IP in my realms.conf

    so if there was any way to have my new IP automatically updated in the realms.conf, then that'd be all I need.
