I just cracked it thanks to uselessx sharing it.
2 way to crack it.

1. Copy this in you config.WTF

SET uiSca1e "2 "
SET Sound_MusicVolune "4 "
SET Sound_AnbienceVolume "1
"

2. Download my config.wtf and copy it over your own.

Why the settings related to sounds? what is the relation with cracking carbonite? can you explain how it works?

Those settings dont exist.
Carbonite makes them when you activate your bought addon.
So its just something carbonite checks before you can use it.
If you try it and its not activated you cant use the full features.

Hope this help you understand how Carbonite checks for activation.

There was a crack for 1.68 and it worked perfectly. You could decrypt carbonite (I think this is only half way bugged with 1.81 because it gives me a "output.txt" with a too low file sice ~1,3 MB) and after that you could change the realmname and char name it should be registered to. Furthermore you could remove the time limitation.

I think this is still possible but we need to update the decry.bat and the register.bat for the new format.

Furthermore here a readme how it worked:

1) Open register.lua in a texteditor.
2) Change the first 2 lines to make them look like
local realmName="Azeroth"
local playerName="ImSoLeet"

with your realm and character name in them.
3a) Don't trust any .exe you download, so get your own wow compatible lua.exe before doing the next step (google is your friend).
3b) If you are lazy rename "lua.ex_" to "lua.exe"
4) Run register.bat (it should create a Carbonite.lua)
5) You can now delete Lua.exe, register.lua, register.bat, Carbonite.decrypted
6) Log in with the chosen character.

Can someone try to do this? I think they put in a kind of blocker to prevent a fully decrypt and the also store the important information more secure (realmname, palyername and endtime)

I've tried adding just that as you suggested, didn't work. I then tried using your config, and it worked fine. I had a look for other keys and found 3 more you hadn't included.

The config below will work! Just add it to your config it should work at the bottom.

OK, so this is going to be my very first post here.

Well, the WTF file trick didn't work for me so i decided to look at the addon more closely by myself. After some tinkering i created the thing which worked for me.

When you run unverified version it shows you shortly after you log the player name and realm name to which you need to login to verify the addon. My particular 1.81 says it's for Essens from Outland; if yours says the same you wont need any tinkering, else write both names down.

Now to install:

1) Unpack the archive, this will create the "Carbonite" folder; this folder contains two files: Carbonite.toc and CarboniteRegister.lua

2) Put both files into your Addons\Carbonite folder, it will ask if you want to overwrite the file Carbonite.toc which is already there; answer Yes.

3) If your Carbonite is for Essens from Outland, skip all the substeps of the step 3.
3.1) Open the file CarboniteRegister.lua with any text editor like Notepad;
3.2) first two lines set the values for the player name and the realm name; replace the player name "Essens" with the name you wrote down before; do the same with the realm name; keep both names in quotes.
3.3) Save and close the file.

4) Run WoW and log any of your characters.

5) Stay logged for some time to make sure the "Unverified" message box won't appear anymore; it pops not right after you logged on, but after some random interval. I recommend you do not play now because i'm not sure if my script has any side effects

6) OK, now that you are kind of sure the addon is verified, quit WoW and simply reinstall the Carbonite (actually you only need to restore the file Carbonite.toc back to the original one.

7) Profit

I expect this to work with other versions of Carbonite as well, ofc until they change the addon significantly.

P.S. Now i don't feel myself like i'm a leecher

Edit: this patch won't work for the newer releases of the Carbonite, look further into the thread for the updated version.

I'm trying to use Carbonite 1.81 on the WotlK beta and I couldn't get it working, no way no how!

I first tried putting those lines in the Config.wtf file, no go. I then tried Shon's suggestion above, no dice. I then tried a combination of the two along with different Config.wtf files yet my Carbonite still pops up immediately and says UNVERIFIED.

I download 2 versions, one mentioned above in this thread, the other was regged to "Essens from Outland".

This is my config file and its for WoW EU so dont know if it works with the US version.

Well, i just checked my patch on the 1.82 posted above and it worked for me again. If it wont for you, disabling every other addon might help. You can turn them back on after (if) you have successfully verified Carbo and reinstalled it after that. As i said earlier i'm not sure if my approach has any side effect, it might as well conflict with some addon you have installed.

Regarding the Carbo and WotLK, i have noticed the Carbo checks for the WoW version, and it has some special handling for the case if the version is 3.0.1 or higher. I didn't dig into that any deeper so i guess this version of the Carbo just wont work in WoTLK at all.
