The best pet is a GhostSaber ([Only registered and activated users can see links. ]) which is caught at level 19-20, I have yet to actually get this pet, but I know from my friends that it is the best once it hits 70

I played around with my hunter's spec, and have come out with a MM / surv hybrid spec. Before you flame I have topped charts in 25 mans / 10 mans over warlocks / other hunters that used to top me when I was MM.

Anyway here is the spec on a talent calc:

I had a 4/5 s4 hunter with full guardian ++.. I went MM/Survival! It's pretty good tbh! Beastmastery is overated! If you got skill as MM you'll pwn!

IMO BM is wonderful if you don't have the greatest gear.

After you're hitting S3/S4+ for PvP, Marksman really begins to shine... but I believe BM still fares a bit better against melees than marksman does, regardless of gear. /shrug

Just my opinion. I'd go BM unless I was pretty nicely geared out.

Well, i've got a 70 hunter, dont do that much pvp tho, had 1900 rating s1 and about 1800 s2, but then stopped, ohwell back then i played with BM/shadow priest, works really nice.. another nice combo for 2v2 is MM hunter & resto druid, you've got to be able to play good then tho, IF you do MM/resto druid you can CC a Warrior in Warr/dudu combo 100% of the fight, yes you can... ohwell, just wanted to tell! dont know that much about pvp now tho, havnt played serious in.. loads of time i went hardcore pve instead but owell, i hope my words of wisdom helped :P

oh and btw, use scorpid pet, then your Viper sting can last fully, even tho u dont have improved
