Wow Guides [Rogue] The Perfect Hemorrage spec! (PvP) - 06-27-2008

I think this topic needs moving to WoW Guides. Not sure.
Edit: Yep I have definatly decided this really needs to be a Class guide. If it could be moved it would be highly apprectiated and a /hug from me.

Hemorrage is a damn beautiful skill, but using it does require a little bit of skill. Getting the talents jsut right is also very important. You should always be spamming Hemorrage and Ghostly Striek with every chance you get, that is the basic. You do not need to be using Sinister Strike.

So here is a quick run through on where to put your talent points and what to do to counter almost every class.

If you enjoy reading this here guide and still think you could do with a little more description and more precise explaination then I will always take requests to make videos. (Which I was thinking of doing anyway for more detailed explainations)

Gear.

Assuming you are already level 70.

Go for the rep items, the oppurtunist set is a great way to start out pvping with a rogue. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Build up honor in the Battlegrounds and save for Season 2 (Merciless, available with honor and marks since yesterday, 26 June 2008). [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
You could also do with getting the veterans pvp gear (Rings, Neck, Feet etc.) [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Once you work your way up the ranks in arena you should be saving up for Season 4. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

You really really really want to make sure you have a Medallion of the Alliance/Horde, your other trinket should be some attack power increase trinket (I recommend Bloodlust Brooch from badges or Tsunami Talisman from SSC). [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

To socket your gear you will be mainly using Yellow and Red gems. Go for the Red Agility Gems and the Yellow Resillience Gems. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

For Weapons go for anything but daggers. Personally I like swords but Maces/Fist Weapons are cool too. You MUST have a throwing weapon! Go for PvP Gear here too.

You might want to aim for this cape (Dory's Embrace) for 60 badges of justice. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

PvPing with your Rogue.

Poisons.

I most preferably would use Crippling poison on the off-hand and wound poison in the main hand for Battlegrounds and Arena. IF you are dueling and you know what class you are fightign against then you can determien whether to use Wound or Mind Numbing on your Main Hand. (Crippling Poison on off-hand is a must have. In any case if your enemy is trying to retreat, it wont work because he is slowed. you can even use Shiv if you re desperate to apply the poison.)

Plate Bearers.

As you know rogues have 0 spells and the armor from plate can really cut down your damage. Which can pretty much render you useless. Especially if the target has a shield (Prot Pally/Prot Warr/Holy Pally)

In most fights you will be starting in stealth (Incase you didn't already know this.)

Therefore isntead of using any kind of ambush or cheap shot (You should really be using swords/maces/fist weapons, not daggers.) Go in for a garrote, this is a bleed effect. Armor does not reduce damage from bleeds.

Don't do the obvious and use your combo points up on Expose Armor. It really isn't that useful. Use a rupture, another bleed effect on top of the already existing bleed will definatly make any plate character look like a clothy.

If you re getting combo points fast enough you can run a sequence of Rupture > Kidney Shot > Rupture and so on.

Paladins are tricky with their bubble, but by the tiem they have healed up you can probably bandage up or get back into stealth, dont forget you have 2x Vanish, Sprint and Evasion with Prepartion. Make sure you use Cloak of Shadows when you have it, Paladins do have some pretty strong spells. Remember to use blind if you are desperate to get back into stealth.

A great way of confusing your enemy and avoiding powerful attacks is the use of Shadowstep. Shadowstep is truly amazing. You don't need to be in stealth to use it. So use it when you are out of stealth. This will confuse your opponent no doubt about it, it will set you behind your target giving you a higher chance to hit the enemy.

Elemental shamans can be a pain as they will usually use a shield. This tactic can be useful agaisnt them, but remember to keep up your kick agaisnt them as you wont have them stunlocked.

Mail, Leather and Cloth.

Fightign these classes are pretty simple. You just need to do your best from avoiding the chance to be hit.

Warlocks: Warlocks are a pain. However if you are Undead then they will be a walk i nthe park. Keep up your Cloak of Shadows and jsut spam Hemorrage. When using up your combo points do your best to keep the warlock stunlocked, so kidney shot would be the preffered option there. However if the warlock is on low health you could jsut finish him off with Eviscerate.

Mages: Mages don't come easy. Especially if they catch you off your guard. Blink and Ice Block gives them too many chances to escape from your range. However if you play it right you will win jsut as easy as the warlock. When the mage blinks, you shadowstep. When the mage uses frostbolt, you Sprint. When the mage uses Fireball, you use Cloak of Shadows (Use cloak of shadows if the mage is frost too, dont jsut wait until he casts a fireball, because if he is frost then that won't be happening). If you can keep up these skills and especially Cloak of Shadows because you will resist pretty much everything.

Hunters: Yes... What seems the perfect Rogue killer. Well it's not. The only chnace you will havel osing against these would be if he is beast mastery. Even if he is, Blind the hunter, kill his pet, vanish, CC the hunter (Keep him stunned!), keep close to him so he can't fire at you and it's jsut /win. Cloak of Shadows can come useful here too, but if you are i na scenario liek arena then you might want to save it.

Druids: Yep, they're good. They can heal, they can be a tiger (Emo Cat) and they can be a Bear. The Druid is unpredictable. You should be able to win if you bot hstart in stealth, as a Rogue with this Spec you will most likely have a high chance not to be seen by the Druid whilst in stealth and you will be able to start the fight with a cheap shot. Jsut keep him stunlocked (I know this is hard as Druids can easily get out of stuns) Use your Vanish, use Evasion. It should be pretty straight forward but In my personal experience fighting a druid is more gear what gear he is wearing and what gear you are wearing. Unless of course the druid is a Boomkin, use some bleeds (A Druid in Moonkin form has 400% Armor) Use some stuns, use cloak of shadows. You should be fine.

Now when it comes to Resto Druids... Yes, these most be the most overpowered class in the game (It seems). Most of the time you won't really be dueling a resto druid. If you are duelign a resto druid then yeah you will most likely win just by the circumstances (No DPS). However when it comes to BG and Arena you will need to start working. A druid is probably the msot mana effecient and powerful healer in the game. If the team you are fighting is jsut as well geared as yourself, then jsut go for the druid first. The druid will be hard to kill and yes, it is risky. However he msut die. The ehaling he will output will just be too major if you dont contest him. (You will probably need a healer on your side) Now a druid will obviously jsut life bloom himself and run away in travel form. This is VERY hard to prevent, but you should be able to get a few combo points off in the time you have whislt he is in his normal form (Tauren/Night Elf). Use Deadly Throw and your Crippling poison (You will definatly need Wound Poison, and for Arena and BG you don't know who you will be fighting, so like said in the poisons seciton, the prefered poisons are wound and crippling.) Just keep chasing him down, sprint, deadly throw, preparation, cloak of shadows, blind, whatever it takes. Just keep chasing him. He will go down in time. (Well actually it might take quite a while...)

Shamans: These should be easy. (Check above on how to fight an Elemental) Enhancement and Resto Shammies should go down pretty easy. Yes I know most Resto Shammys do have a shield, but they dont do nearly as much damage as an Elemental does and healers need to be CCed. Enhancement, jsut keep them stunlocked. You know the drill. They die pretty fast.

Priests: Just like fighting a Warlock that can heal.

Arena Advice.

Fighting in Arena agaisnt teams with healers can be a tough job for a rogue like you. Unless there is a druid healer (Check Above) Then jsut Sap and Blind the healer of the team. By the time the CC ends your opponent will be dead.

Don't die. You have a teammate (Which could preferably be a support class. Priest, Druid, Paladin, Warrior.) which can take soem damage off you. Just Cloak of Shadows and Vanish or just sprint or even evasion. Unless your teammate is a rogue, then you should rely on him and coordination to stun lock and CC targets. Remmeber to use Gouge! This gives you a perfect oppurtunity to get away for a short period of time, giving you time to regen some energy and a little thinking space. (In other scenarios for example in BG or World PvP/Dueling a good way of not dying is to jsut blind or stun/incapcitate your target and bandage up.)

Add-Ons

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] - FuBar, needed to use FuBar Add-Ons.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] - FuBar Rogue Timer. Times how long your stuns will last, it is helpful and after readign this guide you should know why

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] - Quickly Target or Use a certain skill with a click of a button, very useful for CCing a healer. (Also shwos HP/Cast/Mana Bars of all enemies in Arena.)
