First of all, you've probably noticed the EMu section filled with people who wnat a magic button to make a serever, a server whih requires no EXEs or downloads, other dumb stuff like that.

My suggestion is that at least once when you first enter Emu section, you are required to pass a 25 question quiz, similar to the below, one word responses, and pass at least 15 to be allowed entrance. this way, new emulator members would be forced to learn a little bit before they start here, significantly reducing spaam and ignorant posts

1: Can you get banned easily for Private-servering?
2: Will a server or website run without MYsql?
3: Can you use SQLyog, AND Navicat on the same server?
4: can you Bypass an IPBan with a IP hider?
5: Can you Crezte new land for your users without makijng them download stuff?
6: What forum section do you post EMU questions in?
7: What thread has a post which says "you found me! yay! emulator FTW" (would make them use search, post would be in another section)

8: Does SQLyog host your server?
9: does a database contain terrain data?
10: Can a "realmlist loop" be caused by firewalls?


these are sample questions which could be used on the quiz. This would also screen out "lazy leechers" who have not contributed in other parts of mmowned, while educating newbies to emulation as to the basics and limits.

Quite a good idea as a matter of fact, if they cant answer most of them/all of them, then they are redirected straight to a guide on how to install, (one in which they cant reply to) so at least they can get the info.

Either way, something like this is quite a nice idea.

I do think it should be a bit different questions thought. Some of them I actully had to think about before answering...

It's an ok idea but one big flaw....What if they've never worked with a private server before?

Then even if you send them to a guide that's easy and they don't get it they want to ask questions. So how do they ask those? And also the guide might not explain all the things about the questions you need to enter.


So then they need another guide that's on the inside. That they can't get to.

if theyve never worked with private servers, they would be forced to search the internet and gather knowledge regarding emulated WoW servers, to avoid repetitive spamming of the forums with unneccesary questions.

also after quiz you would have to agree to Emu section terms of service.

But tinker another flaw....Then if they find a site they don't have to work to get in....

They're gone the chance they will come back is like 0.01%.

Thats like saying i'll give you this cookie if you do my homework...Then to find the answers to your homework they call someone else that says they will give them a cookie for free. >.< Not the best explanation.

Bad idea. But I think we need a question forum so that releases, tips and exploits dont get bogged down by emulator questions.

and a quiz or test for emulator expert.

I get youre point, but if they Go to another random site with basically no knowledge, it will still achieve the purpose intentedm, to reduce useless forum clutter on mmowned. It is slightly manipulative, but it functuions to the desired result.

I also do Agree with Neinteen, a Separate forum for questions specifically, or one for releases alone would help clear things up, maybe divided into:

Gameobjects
Guides
Repacks
Databases
NPCs
Programs

QUESTIONS

If you are to suggest a new thing like this for mmowned, then code it and post the code to either matt and I.
If you are suggesting a contest then YOU, yes you! need to find some give aways as well, not us.

The problem for me, is that I haven't seen ONE. yes ONE good mac private server guide that goes into even half the depth that most of the windows ones do, with Downloads, and Screenshots etc. I tried using one about a year ago when I first joined MMOwned, but it was a block of nearly illegible text, with old, incorrect links.

I know, macs arent ideal, but they should atleast have ONE good guide.
